DMV / Job Title: Finance Specialist
Location: The Washington DC area is preferred; however, a “remote status” will be considered for the highly qualified candidate.
Status: Full Time
Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000
Cogent Security Consulting LLC provides a broad range of services and technology solutions to the Federal Government in support of critical national security missions. The company has experienced growth and needs an experienced and capable Finance Specialist to manage the increased volume and posture the department for scaling. The company is seeking an individual that can efficiently perform the responsibilities outlined below, effectively analyze the current state of the department, and contribute ideas and develop roadmaps to helping the department function with greater efficiency. As such, this position offers the opportunity to make an immediate and enduring impact on a growing business.
Responsibilities include five main functions: Accounting Systems, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Reporting.
· Maintain accounting systems ensuring data is current and accurate.
· Set up new customers and projects.
· Set up new team members.
· As changes occur, update systems to reflect.
· Enter vendor payables into the accounting system.
· Review vendor payables, identify payables that require approval, and create and send a summary Accounts Payables report.
· Process approved vendor bills for payment.
· Update vendor bank information as needed.
· Verify that all time and approved expense reports are exported to the accounting system.
· Verify time is coded correctly in the accounting system.
· Prepare invoices and coordinate with applicable Program Managers and Directors for review and approval.
· Manage accounts receivable balances and act when invoices are overdue.
· Verify that all employees’ time is recorded accurately.
· Verify that all expenses are recorded accurately.
· Process payroll accurately and timely utilizing our third-party system.
· Pay out 1099s.
· Manage special circumstances (i.e., employee dismissals, bonus payments, etc.) on an as needed basis.
· Support the Controller in preparing a financial reporting package for Executive Leadership review.
· Support the Controller in adjusting and entering accrual journal entries.
· Work with third-party administrators.
· Collaborate across the company with various levels of leadership.
· Seek continuous improvement opportunities (i.e., systems, processes, procedures) – take ownership.
· None required although a degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field is desirable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
