Position Summary
Flock Supervisors are responsible for overseeing bird management and health on farms. They ensure that growers have the necessary information to follow the guidelines and standards set by the Co-op. This position involves implementing health programs developed by the veterinarian, such as vaccinations and routine medications, and making decisions on medicating sick birds based on samples collected for the State laboratory and discussions with management. Additionally, the role requires strong communication skills to advise and promote best industry practices in farm management, including providing technical advice on environmental control and other procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Visit farms on a regular basis to assess bird health and performance.
· Maintain service reports to Decide on appropriate action to improve bird health or performance including medications use.
· Encourage and motivate growers to maintain and exceed management standards as set by Code.
· Report issues raised by growers that need to be addressed. Attend weekly management meeting.
· Maintain weekly supply and medication inventory on truck.
· Serves as an active member of the Avian Influenza (AI) team if needed.
· Ability to maintain a positive attitude with growers and always work towards a positive outcome.
· Ensure total confidentiality by professionally distinguishing between VPGC and the poultry growers to avoid conflicts.
· Must be able to travel to varies farms depending on VPGC needs.

Education, certificates, and licenses:
· Bachelor’s degree (Four-year college or university)
· 3-5 years of experience working as Tech service in the poultry industry
· Animal or poultry science degree preferred
· Expert understanding of environmental house control, ventilation, bird and health and medicine.
· Valid driver’s license
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
· Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
· Must be able to push, pull up to 25 lbs.
· Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
· Exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures such as dust, chemicals, and allergens.
· Must be able to drive in different weathers
