The mission of the Alameda County Deputy Sheriffs’ Activities League (DSAL) is to unite Sheriff’s Office personnel, citizens and youth of Alameda County in the pursuit and implementation of initiatives that will reduce crime, better the lives of area residents and enhance the community through action and collaboration with its partners.

DSAL recreation programs offer no- and low-cost soccer, boxing, fitness and other recreational activities for low-income community members and provides opportunities for Sheriff's deputies to interact positively with members of the community.

DSAL community development programs endeavor to provide support for community groups, empower community members to engage in the political process, engage in creative placemaking, and make their community a more vibrant, healthy place to live, work and play.

Dig Deep Farms is a DSAL social enterprise with a dual mission of providing access to healthy food and creating job experience and employment opportunities for populations that have historically had limited access to both. DSAL also operates Food As Rx (subsidized produce “prescriptions” for low-income residents and farm stands at local clinics) andFood Recovery initiatives.

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Food Hub Admin is to coordinate and oversee administrative duties in the hub, and ensure that the office operates efficiently and smoothly. The responsibilities generally include duties like greeting visitors, managing office supplies, overseeing other administrative staff, owning budgets, and supporting staff with administrative tasks like scheduling meetings, note taking, filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc.

Job Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Oversee and support all administrative duties in the Food Hub and ensure that the Food Hub is operating smoothly
  • Support food hub management team as necessary, including scheduling group meetings, maintaining calendars, doing research, and creating reports
  • Data Administration
  • Exporting data to set up delivery routes in dispatching application
  • Maintain Dispatch and routing software and data input
  • Checking data entries against scheduled deliveries
  • Entering delivery failure data
  • Double checking and processing delivery receipts
  • Ensure that all Food Hub staff are maintaining records with consistency
  • Office Management
  • Manage office supplies inventory and place orders as necessary
  • Perform receptionist duties: greet visitors, and answer and direct phone calls
  • Receive and sort incoming mail and deliveries, and manage outgoing mail
  • Develop office policies and procedures, and ensure they are implemented appropriately
  • Assist with office layout planning and office moves, and with managing and maintaining IT infrastructure
  • Prepare agendas and help run staff meetings
  • Track and renew permits as directed by management
  • Identify opportunities for process and office management improvements, and design and implement new systems
  • Various other tasks as required

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or a related field OR 5-8 years of work experience in an administrative/office management role
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize
  • Must be a self-starter and driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities
  • Must be proficient with Google Suite and able to learn new software platforms

Location:

This position will be based at the DDF Food Hub at 2700 Fairmont Drive, San Leandro, CA 94578.

Type of Employment:

The position is a full-time hourly position at $26/hour.

  • Full time employees accrue vacation according to the following schedule, up to a maximum of 180 hours:
  • 6.67 hours per month or 10 days = 0 -1 year
  • 10 hours per month or 15 days per year = >1 to < 5 years
  • 13.33 hours per month or 20 days per year = >5 years
  • Group health insurance plan: DSAL pays 100% of the value of the Kaiser Silver medical/dental plan. Kaiser Gold and Platinum are also available, and the employee pays the difference in price.
  • $50 monthly cell phone stipend to full time employees, and $20 monthly cell phone stipend to part time employees who use their personal cell phones for DSAL business.
  • $30 monthly computer stipend to full-time employees, and $15 monthly computer stipend to part-time employees who use their personal computers for DSAL business.
  • Non-matching 401K to allow employees to save for retirement pre-tax
