Job Summary:

The Food Pantry Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the AUMC Food Pantry as part of Acworth UMC’s mission to Serve God and Love People by Serving God and loving people. The number one goal of this position and every task is to facilitate people and ministries to make this a reality. We feed 160 families a week through a mobile food pantry, and this undertaking is a big job.

o Responsible for ordering weekly food delivery from Atlanta Community Food Bank.

o Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise food pantry volunteers.

o To meet food delivery truck on Mondays in order to unload and store items.

o To prepare non-perishable food boxes,

o To unload Tuesday perishable food truck delivery,

o To manage Tuesday distribution and administration duties.

o Manage food intake, sorting, storage, pantry shelve stocking and maintenance for the food pantry.

o Meet Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) requirements and maintain up to date training requirements.

o Maintain/Supervise general cleanliness of food pantry facilities and management of recyclable materials.

o Maintain safe working environment for all stored foods as well as workers and volunteers.

o Work with the Food Pantry Team and Mission Team to develop best practices, processes, and parameters for the food pantry.

o Will carry out responsibilities in a way compliant to the current Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, the current AUMC Employee Handbook, and the administrative bodies of Acworth United Methodist Church.

o This job requires a high commitment to flexibility and ability to work independently. Examples of this include:

o Orders must begin at midnight on Sunday night. The cutoff for ordering food is Wednesday evening. The order must be checked periodically to continue to order food so that the minimum weight is met.

o The timing of delivery can be unpredictable so flexibility is a must.


This candidate MUST be available every Tuesday from 8 am to 1 pm. Additionally, this job will require a candidate to create the order through the Atlanta Foodbank. To do this, they must be available to start an order every Sunday night at midnight. Other hours are flexible as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
