Full job description
The Production Supervisor position involves overseeing the production staff and equipment on the production line. The supervisor ensures that production goals and quality standards are met while implementing company policies. Initially, training will be conducted during day shifts, with a permanent transition to night shifts thereafter.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate, through subordinates, the activities of production line from the processing to the packaging departments
- Apply the knowledge of production methods in the processes, machines and equipment, plant layout, and production capacities of each department or work centers
- Plan production line operations, establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products, utilizing knowledge or production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities, and human resource requirements
- Prepare operation schedules for each position on the production line
- Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production (standard labor and output set up in the system) and quality of products meets specifications
- Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems on the production line to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards
- Develop process specifications for all products that are produced on the production line
- Meet required budgetary numbers in the labor, ingredient and waste areas
- Initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures
- Maintain confidential information to include rates of pay, employee issues, discussions at management operations meetings.
- Train employees on company policies, safety requirements and equipment operation
- Monitor and enforce company policies including safety, Good Manufacturing, local, state, and federal regulations, etc.
- Ensure adherence to strict food safety and compliance standards, implementing rigorous protocols and procedures to maintain the highest level of quality, safety, and food safety in all job functions.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum four years’ experience in a production capacity or related role in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of supervision experience preferred
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing preferred
- Ability to work well with and command the respect of employees and team members.
- Ability to make simple math calculation & measurements
- Ability to read & speak basic English
- Effective communication skills with coworkers and supervisors
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height on an intermittent basis.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers.
- Understanding of basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures
