Job Title: Food Service Supervisor

Department: Food Services

Reports To: Executive Director

Employment Status: Full Time

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this position provides leadership, administration, and management of all ministries and personnel in Food Services. The position promotes excellence in Food Services to help the Mission meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all people to whom we minister daily.

Areas of Specific Focus: General Administration, Community Partnerships & Development, Volunteer Coordination, and Human Resources

Education/Experience: Previous cafeteria management experience required for this position. Previous experience planning menus in cafeteria settings for large numbers of people is required for the position. Must be able to pass a background clearance. Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must obtain and maintain ServSafe® certification.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:KITCHEN FACILITY OVERSIGHTThis position will obtain and maintain ServSafe® certification.

  • Maintains facilities, appliances, equipment and stored food in accordance with ServSafe® guidelines and public health standards.
  • Ensures that cooking and serving surfaces are cleaned & sanitized and floors are cleaned and free of grease and other safety hazards.
  • Instructs staff and clients in proper hand washing techniques and practices.
  • Coordinates the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday community meals.
  • Ensures the clients working in the kitchen are trained and that their experience is beneficial to their recovery.
  • Maintains and provides appropriate training of department Material Safety Data Sheets. Ensures all employees are aware of the location of the Safety Data Sheets and is aware of how to handle any and all hazardous materials in the department.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all volunteers willing to serve in the Food Services area of ministry
  • Keep an ongoing list of all volunteers working in the food pantry and in the kitchen
  • Assign delivery routes to volunteers for Hot Meals for the Homebound and ensure procedures are followed
  • Partner with local churches to make them aware of volunteer needs at the CMC
  • Hot Meals for the Homebound
  • Communicate and coordinate with Elba, Hartford, and other future communities to ensure the delivery of hot meals to their volunteer teams
  • Maintain an up- to- date list of all clients in each served community at all times
  • Conduct periodic opinion surveys from clients receiving meals to ensure high quality
  • Assign volunteers their specific routes to ensure smooth, consistent delivery
  • Food Bank and Business Pickups
  • Coordinate and pickup from Dothan Food Bank the weekly receiving of food items
  • Keep monthly report of what food items we receive from Publix and Wal Mart weekly
  • Keep current database of every items received from individuals or local businesses (i.e. Walmart, Publix, etc.)
  • Work alongside Benevolence Counselor to distribute donations to the public (i.e. Dry Goods, meat boxes, hygiene items, etc.)
  • Coordinate all daily and weekly food pickup from local businesses who support the CMC including Panera Bread, Walmart, and Publix.
  • New Life Recovery Client Supervision
  • Ensure New Life client helpers are trained on their roles, cleaning responsibilities, and assigned their specific task each week
  • Food Distribution Sites
  • Coordinate with Love in Action ministries and the Dothan Food Bank to pick up food items that we will give out for the week at all distribution sites
  • Enlist volunteers at each distribution site from the master volunteer list for the CMC
  • Oversee the physical setup of the distribution site utilizing New Life program clients in the work as needed
  • Food Pantry
  • Working alongside the Assistant Director of Food Services, ensure that the food pantry is stocked with one month of food supply for meal preparation at all times
  • Ensure up-to-date health department standards are implemented in the food pantry, storage of foods, and freezers
  • Keep the food pantry clean and organized at all times
  • Make sure the freezer temperatures are being tracked on a weekly basis
  • Formulate chore list for New Life Clients, assign chores, and train clients on proper way to complete the chores
  • Responsible for all events hosted on CMC property including but not limited to: Weddings, Baptisms, Staff Meetings, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring needed supplies are delivered to the Elba and Geneva locations
  • Oversee all cleaning and janitorial needs at the Christian Mission Community Church weekly
  • Travel is necessary for setup, distribution, delivery, and carrying out the responsibilities of the position.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other Mission management.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Production Warehouse Manager concerning New Life clients needed in kitchen or the need to trade out clients as necessary
  • Ensure up-to-date health department standards are visible in the kitchen areas at all times
  • Work with local businesses to develop more food drives throughout the year
  • Work with Mitchell Auto Dealership to conduct their annual food drive on behalf of the Mission
  • Communicate with community leadership to ensure our ministry presence in their area is positively received, helpful, and in line with their goals and desires
  • Seek to increase public education and awareness of Food Service ministries in the communities we serve
  • Develop further partners and agencies in our areas of service who need our food services

Computer Skills:

  • Intermediate computers skills are required for this position, which include aptitude in the use of the Internet, e-mail, spreadsheets, and maintaining data bases through means of accurately and proficiently entering data.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office Suite & case management software; basic computer and typing skills a must.
