Food Truck Assistant

In this role as an Santa Clara Vanguard, Food Truck Assistant, you will report directly to the SCV Chefs and SCV Corps Director. You will work closely with the SCV Management team to execute the culinary plan for the SCV pre-tour and summer tour. You will primarily work with the Chefs to prepare meals for the staff, volunteers, and members and assist with inventory and set up of the food truck.

SCV Food Truck Assistant Responsibilities:

• Support and assist food staff with any clerical tasks such as inventory and ordering/grocery shopping
• Assist in maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of the food truck and service area
• Assist with setting up the service area and ensuring all necessary items and supplies are set out ahead of time
• Assist with breaking down and cleaning the service area and ensuring all necessary items and supplies are put away in the appropriate area immediately following service
• Assist in preparation (chopping, slicing, portioning) of food with proper techniques and exercise food safety

Location & Schedule:

Food Truck Assistants will travel full-time with breaks with Vanguard from May 25th through August 10th. Meals, lodging and travel will be provided for this position.

Compensation:

All corps-related travel, housing, and meal expenses will be covered by Vanguard. Personal travel and meal expenses are not covered.

Qualifications:

• Age 22 or older, 25 or older if operating and driving a company vehicle
• A driver's license is not required; however, all Tour Administration Staff with valid driver’s licenses will be added to SCV vehicle insurance
• Valid Food Handler's Certification

Experience:

• At least one year of experience in food preparation and/or service
• At least one year of participation in a performing arts unit desired, preferably with WGI and/or DCI components
• At least one year of DCI/WGI or other related administration experience is desired
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Evernote, and Slack; strong email and written communication skills
