Waunakee Neighborhood Connection is a local social service agency that provides programs and resources for low-income households within the Waunakee school district and community of Dane through the engagement of volunteers and the greater community.

The Fund Development Manager will ensure Neighborhood Connection secures the financial resources to effectively achieve its mission by developing and executing short- and long-term fundraising plans, writing grant proposals, planning events, and creating effective communications. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers, the Fund Development Manager will oversee all fund development activities and special events.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

I. Fund Development

  • Work with the Executive Director to create Waunakee Neighborhood Connection’s annual fundraising plan.
  • Generate sustainable revenue through an appropriate blend of individual and corporate donations, grants, partnerships, special events, planned giving, and other sources.
  • Manage the fundraising goals and expenses portion of the annual budget.
  • Ensure that donations are appropriately documented and that donation receipts are distributed.
  • Identify, write, track, and submit reports for grants.
  • Lead Board and volunteers in planning and execution of community fundraisers and special events.
  • Collaborate on the creation of the organization’s annual report.

II.Marketing and Outreach

  • Develop and foster relationships with individual donors, corporate donors, and community partners.
  • Recognize and show appreciation towards donors.
  • Develop fundraising campaign communications.
  • Create website and social media content to connect with the community, publicize special events, and recognize donors.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Preferable academic focus: nonprofit management, business, development, or marketing, OR a combination of training, education and/or experience that can be demonstrated to result in possession of knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position.
  • Two or more years of experience in nonprofit, development, fundraising, and/or marketing.
  • One or more years of grant writing experience.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and digital marketing platforms; experience with graphic design software and CRM preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission of Waunakee Neighborhood Connection.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and carrying out fund development activities and grant writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to be a persuasive and passionate communicator.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management including accounting, grants management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to set priorities, multi-task, monitor progress toward goals, track details and use data to make informed decisions and problem-solve.
  • Highly motivated, creative, flexible, and able to work independently or collaborating with a team.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work from home, but must live within driving distance of Waunakee, WI in order to meet with donors and coordinate events.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Have a strong sense of community-building and community engagement.

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements: Light work that includes exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally or a negligible amount frequently.

Physical Activity: Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one workspace to another. May remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time with occasional standing, walking, stooping, crouching, and kneeling; frequent reaching, carrying lifting, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, typing, talking-speaking clearly, hearing-conversation, and seeking-near.

Work/Environment: Moderate noise level consistent with an office environment with occasional higher noise level and frequent interruptions.

Personal/Physiological: Interaction with people, working around people, planning of activities, making judgements in emergency situations, frequent changes in duties and volume of work, intra-organizational communication.
