Gallery Attendant
Dept: Visitor Services
Type: Seasonal part-time position
$16 per hour
FLSA: Non-exempt
The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame seeks three part-time Gallery Attendants to work 20 to 25 hours a week including weekends and holidays July 1 through mid-September. Two shifts will be available 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Gallery Attendants are responsible for providing a positive, professional, and safe environment for visitors to explore the Museum’s special exhibition. They assist visitors and enforce rules and regulations as necessary to protect artwork and objects on display.
· Observing visitors within the gallery and taking preventative verbal measures to ensure the protection of artwork and objects on display.
· Professionally and positively enforce museum policies. Backpacks, food, and drink will not be permitted in the gallery and only non-flash photography will be allowed.
· Communicates effectively and educates visitors about the exhibit, the facility, and the Museum’s history and mission.
· Reports incidents within the gallery such as any touching of art or objects on display.
· High school diploma or equivalent required. College-level credits or degree in an arts field preferred
· Will be required to stand and/or walk in the gallery space for the 4.5 hour duration of the shift.
· Part-time employees are eligible for paid sick days.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
