POSITION SUMMARY:

The Girl Program Specialist is pivotal in achieving the council’s overall membership and retention goals for girls. This is achieved by creating, coordinating, and delivering high-quality programs, events, curricula, and associated resources customized to meet market demands and program grant requirements. Collaborating with other departments is crucial to fulfilling GSGST's goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute high-quality, year-round experiences covering all four Girl Scout pillars, including outdoor activities, to support girls and volunteers across the entire council.
  • Create and implement marketing strategies to boost participation rates.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in working with girls, conducting training sessions for volunteers focused on Girl Scouts and implementing the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, emphasizing the four pillars.
  • Oversee all aspects related to Girl Scout camps.
  • Collaborate extensively with program staff and other GSGST team members to achieve council goals, fostering teamwork and commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Stay informed about all Girl Scout Program opportunities offered by GSUSA, ensuring comprehensive knowledge of resources and initiatives to support Girl Scouts effectively.
  • Ensure safety during all programs by following GSUSA and GSGST policies and state and local laws and implementing appropriate safety measures consistently.
  • Actively contribute to creating diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible environments, promoting these principles through actions and words within the Girl Scout community.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to contribute to the success of the Girl Scout organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Essential prior experience working with youth.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in public speaking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and spreadsheets and Google Suite applications including Sheets, Docs, and Forms.

Licensure/Membership Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license, access reliable transportation, and provide proof of insurance.
  • Must maintain membership with the Girl Scouts of the United States of America throughout the employment period at GSGST.
  • Completion and passing of a Criminal Background Check are required.
  • Additional licenses & certifications may be required depending on the specific job role and responsibilities.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Highly organized with the ability to motivate others through effective communication.
  • Proficient in public speaking, capable of conveying the value of Girl Scout Programming to diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in managing multiple tasks and prioritizing them effectively.
  • Capacity to multitask and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proactive in taking initiative and proficient in organizing and executing responsibilities with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Capable of working well under pressure and adapting to changing priorities in response to evolving needs.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of the Girl Scout organization and The Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regular work schedule on weekdays, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
  • Ability to travel within all 26 counties covered by GSGST.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Operating office equipment manually as needed.
  • Lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds intermittently.
  • Capable of carrying out responsibilities and participating in outdoor activities year-round, regardless of weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
