Grant Accountant
Note: We are working a hybrid remote schedule due to COVID-19. Some onsite work assignments are required based on need.

Reports To: Director of Finance

Status: Full-Time/Exempt

The Urban League of Greater Atlanta has an immediate opening for a Grant Accountant to provide financial oversight on grants. In this role, you will work directly with the Director of Finance to ensure the appropriate use and accurate reporting of all financial transactions on grants and contracts. You will be responsible for performing grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis.

MUST HAVE:

  • 2-4 Years of Experience Managing Grant Revenue & Expenses
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting
  • QuickBooks experience
  • Excellent Time Management Skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance CFR2

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Must be able to demonstrate and communicate experience in all areas of responsibilities
  • Ability to thrive and respond upon request in a fast-paced environment.
  • Non-profit agency accounting experience is highly preferred.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the general ledger.
  • Thorough knowledge of pre-and post-award administration.
  • Knowledge of grant accounting principles and compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.
  • Skill in interpreting budgets, grants, and contracts.
  • Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.
  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate, analytical, and organized, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Administers grants and contracts of private and governmental programs in accordance with the

Institution’s financial policies, procedures, applicable federal regulations, and donor stipulations.

  • Responsible for monitoring financial reports and expenditures of current grants and contracts, identifying trends associated with over/under expenditure, and making recommendations to resolve these.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly Federal Financial Reports (SF-425), cash transactions reports, and submits through sponsor electronic systems.
  • Administers grants and contracts of private and governmental programs in accordance with the

Institution’s financial policies, procedures, applicable federal regulations, and donor stipulations.

  • Prepare a bi-monthly federal drawdown package.
  • Work closely with the resource development manager to ensure that accounting, tracking, and reporting of donations and grants are accurate.
  • Work with the team to support the collection of grant-related receivables.
  • Prepare grant budget actual report each month to monitor variances.
  • Prepare periodic and close out grant reports according to required timelines.
  • Assist with budget modifications and new grant budget preparation as applicable.
  • Assist with grant audit as needed.
  • Work with applicable department/program staff to monitor variances.
  • Assist in preparing for the annual audit.
  • Be a team member of the finance department and support other departments’ staff as needed
  • Cross train as back-up for other accounting staff in the event of emergencies
