Position Description Summary

Title: Grant and Donor Relations Manager

Department: Development Location: Downtown, Dallas

Reports to: Advancement Director

Salary Range: $60,000 to $80,000

About the Dallas Leadership Foundation: The Dallas Leadership Foundation (DLF) is a Christian not-for-profit organization that develops local leaders to affect systems to expedite positive change in underserved communities. DLF develops leaders and impacts the city of Dallas through three distinct community areas; neighborhoods, prison re-entry and schools. With an annual cash budget of $2.8 million raised from individuals, foundations, major gifts, special events, churches, and corporations DLF and its Board of Directors would like to raise its annual cash budget to $4.25 million dollars by end of 2025.

We’re looking for a seasoned grant and donor relations manager who has a track record of leading and/or supporting successful fundraising initiatives, managing teams, and implementing development strategies. The ideal candidate is a skilled manager, communicator, and leader who is passionate about our mission and will represent Dallas Leadership Foundation to internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and integrity. This person must also be able to collaborate equally well with our executives, board directors, and support staff.

Job Summary: DLF is seeking a Grants and Donor Relations Manager to support all of the development activities of this Dallas agency. The Grant and Donor Manager will assist in the design and be the primary manager of our capital campaign efforts. This position will lead in all capital campaign logistics, including scheduling donor meetings, follow-up communications, and preparations for in-person funding requests. This position will be the primary staff grant writer, manage grant calendar, and development logistics. This position will also play a role in cultivating new and existing donor relationships and help manage the capital campaign for the development of our new headquarters and training center. DLF is currently raising $13 million for this capital campaign effort. This position will assist the Advancement Director and President in raising the final $3 million of the campaign. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator both written and oral, research new grant opportunities, and manage report requirements associated with grants.

Objectives of this role

· Promote awareness of Dallas Leadership Foundation’s mission

· Expand existing donor base

· Coordinate fundraising campaigns including the current Capital Campaign to help meet the organization’s funding targets

· Work with the Advancement Director and President to maintain existing relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors, including acknowledgment and recognition

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

· Research potential donors, foundations, and other development opportunities

· Represent the organization’s mission to donors, potential donors, volunteers, and other external stakeholders

· Create written fundraising and outreach materials

· Supervise fundraising event coordination

· Prepares proposals by conducting research, gathering internal and external data to support grants requests, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.

· Identifies funding needs and opportunities and attend strategy meetings.

· Ensures that the department meets proposal deadlines by determining priorities and target dates for information gathering, drafting, editing, revising, and submitting proposals.

· Creates and updates the grants development calendar.

· Writes executive summaries, conclusions, and organizational and program descriptions.

· Maintains the overall quality of proposals by maintaining, and revising proposal templates and proposal support databases.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates for the position of Grant and Donor Relations Manager are expected to possess the following qualities and attributes:

1) A mature Christian with experience in ministry service, either full-time or in a volunteer capacity.

2) Understands and practices principles of Biblical equality dealing with class, race, and gender.

3) Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently

4) Exemplary work ethic and ability to work in fast-paced, intense environment

5) A healthy respect for local leaders and established strategies.

6) Computer literate, able to navigate software programs (especially donor software), databases, and office equipment.

7) Strong verbal, writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

8) Highly motivated self-starter.

9) A teachable spirit and a willingness to learn new skills.

10) Able to organize, prioritize, and work well with others.

11) Urban ministry experience a plus.

12) Must maintain a valid driver’s license, vehicle and appropriate insurance coverage.

Education & Experience

· Minimum of seven years professional experience

· At least five years of fundraising and donor relations experience is preferred

· Experience leading, coordinating, and motivating volunteers in a social service or ministry setting

· Previous experience in developing and implementing programs/campaigns is highly preferred
