Full job description

The USET Grants and Grants Compliance Manager is responsible for the identification and management of funding that support the needs of program services to further the organization’s development and sustainability. This includes, but is not limited to, researching private, foundation, philanthropic, and government grants, grant writing/coordination, overall grants management and compliance adherence, working to strategically align department priorities with funding opportunities. The position also oversees all aspects of the grant writing and management organizational processes.

Exempt/Non-Exempt and Salary Range:
The USET Grants and Grants Compliance Manager is an exempt position with a salary range starting at $73,304.00 per year.

Reporting Relationship:
The USET Grants and Grants Compliance Manager is supervised by the Development Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages the Grants Writer/Coordinators and Grant Compliance staff.

2. Maintains oversight on all research and identification of grant opportunities from federal, state, local, and Tribal government grantors, private foundations, philanthropic donors, and corporate organizations that support the organization’s mission, goals, objectives, and activities outlined in long- and short-term strategic planning documents. Provide regular progress reports on grant funding goals, and other reports as requested, and pursuant to conversations with funders.

3. Manages all aspects of grant proposals and coordinates information gained through strong working relationships with Department Directors who possesses a strong understanding of organizational goals and objectives, feasibility studies and department need.

4. Manages the monitoring of all grant activity for appropriate/allowable charges against budget and provide status reports to USET leadership on routine basis.

5. Develop and modify policies and procedures and system controls in accordance with government regulations and organizational needs and objectives in coordination with Senior Leadership.

6. Assist with administering grant/proposal submission policy and procedures to ensure process for the organization is followed.

7. Prepare renewal proposals, or assist departments with renewal submissions, for active grants which will require a renewal application to continue multi-year funding.

8. Serves as a subject matter expert and mentor to Grants Writer/Coordinator and Grant Compliance staff.

9. Serve as the advisor to leadership on all non-profit compliance matters.

10. Assist with organizational events, and facilitation of grant writing workshops, trainings, and seminars.

11. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, which has equipped applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties of the position.

2. At least three (3) years of increasingly responsible positions in grant writing.

3. Minimum of five years (5) in a supervisory position.

4. Must possess excellent organizational skills.

5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, colleagues, and both internal and external contacts.

6. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Access.

7. Must have demonstrable ability to work with people from diverse cultures including cultural sensitivity and the ability to work within the customs and traditions of various tribal groups.

8. Ability to travel and work irregular hours, as necessary.
