Greenhouse & Nursery Maintenance Technician

Overview:

We are a fast-paced, growing greenhouse and nursery business located in scenic Stokes County, NC. We’re seeking a motivated, hands-on Greenhouse & Nursery Maintenance Technician to join our team. This full-time role blends mechanical skills with greenhouse operations—ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, problem-solving, and keeping equipment and systems running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on greenhouse systems (fans, heaters, irrigation, vents, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, irrigation, plumbing, and propane heating systems
• Maintain nursery grounds, including mowing, spraying weeds, and general upkeep
• Operate tractors, telehandlers, forklifts, and other equipment for moving plants and materials
• Perform seasonal greenhouse tasks: transplanting, potting, watering, labeling, and pruning
• Maintain equipment (golf carts, mowers, pumps, sprayers, etc.) with regular checks and repairs
• Cover greenhouses, perform minor carpentry, and assist with greenhouse structural maintenance
• Deliver and pick up plants and materials; communicate with customers before delivery
• Assist with plant unloading/loading, particularly during peak seasons
• Maintain parts inventory for irrigation and general hardware needs

What We’re Looking For:

• Some experience in electrical and plumbing
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
• Willingness to work outdoors year-round in varying weather
• Able to lift 50 lbs repetitively and be on your feet all day
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug test
• Comfortable working at heights (up to 18 feet)

• Equipment operation (tractor/forklift)
• Customer service mindset
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn new systems
• Experience in one or two of the following irrigation, HVAC, small engine repair, carpentry, and equipment maintenance

Schedule & Work Environment:

• Full-time, approx. 40 hours/week; occasional overtime during peak seasons (spring/fall)
• Monday–Saturday availability required during busy weeks
• Work is outdoors on a gravel/nursery lot, often physically demanding

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
