Full job description

Milan Puskar Health Right has an immediate part-time job opening for a Peer Support Specialist position for a harm reduction program in Morgantown, WV (Milan Puskar Health Right). Successful candidate will have lived experience, be peer recovery certified (or working on certification), and have excellent rapport-building and communication skills. Must be willing to support harm reduction goals and techniques, meet people where they are, and be non-judgmental. Excellent computer skills required. Knowledge of data collection preferred. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of the Harm Reduction program
  • Assist in the development of individual harm reduction plans.
  • Educate and support individuals in harm reduction techniques.
  • Assist individuals in linkage referral to various programs including primary care, housing, SNAP benefits, treatment, etc. as requested.
  • Become proficient in administering HIV and Hep-C screenings
  • Help individuals discover ways to reduce the harm associated with their substance use behaviors.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Personal experience with substance use disorders and/or mental illness
1 year or more in recovery from mental illness or addiction
Must possess a valid driver’s license or ID card
Peer Recovery Coach training and certification preferred
Basic computer knowledge
Work or volunteer experience with the public is preferred
