About Rossmoor

Rossmoor Walnut Creek is a nationally recognized community for active seniors who are 55 and older. With nearly 10,000 residents in 6,700 homes on 2,000 acres, Rossmoor is a beautiful, serene enclave about 25 miles east of San Francisco. Offering a vast array of activities, residents are inspired to create, enjoy, learn and participate in activities and sports that they never had time to learn or engage in when they were younger. With two golf courses, four swimming pools, tennis, pickleball, lawn bowling and numerous other activities, it is never dull in Rossmoor. Activity studios include dedicated facilities for art, ceramics, lapidary, sewing, and woodworking. Rossmoor also operates its own movie theater, TV station and weekly newspaper. There are more than 200 clubs in Rossmoor for every interest. GRF’s approximately 250 full-time, part-time and part-time/on-call employees provide a huge variety of services including maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, golf course maintenance, recreation, lifeguarding, fitness training, vehicle repair, accounting, insurance and purchasing.

Lifeguard Positions Available

The Golden Rain Foundation is recruiting lifeguards to work at our 3 beautiful pool complexes located in the gated residential community of Rossmoor Walnut Creek.

This position assists the Aquatics Coordinator in providing direction and oversight to lifeguard staff in enforcing facility regulations, policies and procedures; serves as an escalation point for resident issues and questions; monitors activities in pool areas; may assist the Aquatics Coordinator in scheduling lifeguard staff; oversees lifeguard staff training, ensuring that all certifications are maintained in current status; prepares and maintains records and reports as required.

These are year-round full-time positions with vacation and sick pay, health insurance, dental, vision, employee assistance program, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and a 401k with a matching component.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in supervision of lifeguards, scheduling, effectively provides staff leadership and work direction.
  • Ensures Foundation policies and safety rules are followed; assists lifeguards as needed in maintaining discipline in pool areas; prepares reports of various types, maintains records as required, including coordinating and reviewing incident reports, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships. Welcomes residents and guests, answers questions about classes, schedules, policies, etc., pertaining to pools.
  • Performs all duties of lifeguard including cleaning of pools, decks, equipment; recording chemical checks and pool temperatures. Additional duties include balancing or adding chemicals to pools as needed.
  • Collaborate with Aquatic Coordinator to plan and deliver lifeguard staff training, in-services and skill checks, ensuring that certification requirements are met.
  • Serve as first point of contact for lifeguards to refer community issues and concerns, other duties as assigned falling within the purview of the Aquatics Coordinator and/or Fitness and Aquatic Manager.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Lead Lifeguard or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as lifeguard
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Current American Red Cross certification in lifeguarding, first aid, CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer are conditions of initial and on-going employment
  • Current American Red Cross certification in Lifeguard Instructor are conditions of initial and on-going employment
  • Current Certified Pool Operator or willing to obtain certification within six months of employment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service, time and priority management
  • Demonstrated excellence in teamwork and collaboration
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  • Computer literacy in MS Office sufficient to meet record and reporting needs

Additional Requirements:

  • Clean and valid California driver license and satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment;
  • Ability to meet the Dept. of Homeland Security requirements confirming identity and right to work in the United States is required.
  • Offer is contingent upon satisfactorily passing pre-employment background check, Hepatitis B screen, drug test and physical capabilities assessment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
