Diesel Mechanic/Technician

Hours: Monday - Friday 7AM-3PM - Weekends Off

Wages are paid per hour. We do not currently offer medical, dental or retirement benefits. We do have 12 paid holidays and vacation acumulating after a year of employment.

THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE VALID NV DRIVERS LICENSE, CLEAN DRIVING RECORD AND RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION, WE ARE NOT ON CITY BUS LINE. START LOCATION DAILY IS OUR FACILITY OFF MUSTANG EXIT 23 OUTSIDE SPARKS.

MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS - some tools provided.

MUST HAVE VALID NV DRIVERS LICENSE WITH CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.

MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION to Sparks, Mustang Exit 23, I-80 East (East Sparks) area.

MUST BE A TEAM PLAYER

MUST BE ABLE TO LEAVE PERSONAL ELECTRONICS ALONE DURING WORK HOURS.

Small company looking for self-starter, reliable, punctual, attentive, knowledgeable and experienced in all areas of diesel repair, diagnostics and preventive maintenance.

Small fleet of trucks, trailers, backhoes, min-excavator, forklift and miscellaneous other equipment.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required, vocational or technical certification in heavy duty diesel equipment repair preferred.

-4-5 years of heavy-duty diesel equipment and air brake experience required, ASE qualifications & automotive repair experience is a plus.

- Basic mechanical aptitude, demonstrated past problem solving, proper tool usage, and in depth repair experience required

- Proficient in all aspects of repair in maintenance of a small commercial truck fleet. Peterbilt, International, Kenworth, Freightliner, Dodge, Chevy, Ford.

- Computer familiarity is required, instruction on internal computer documentation will be provided.

- A valid driver's license is required, and ability to drive company pickup for light fleet mobile service and parts runs.

- Ability to operate fleet trucks on company lot and in and out of the shop bay preferred. CDL NOT required. If you have one that is a big plus.

- A positive attitude and effective communication skills

- Ability to communicate to assure intra-company relations to strengthen the department through positive, constructive, and cooperative work habits and attitudes. Continuously developing your skills in partnership with your manager.

- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

- Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, submit to a background screening to include past employment and education.

Duties

- Performs basic heavy duty diesel and automotive vehicle maintenance

- Perform regulated annual and in-house 90 day inspection of vehicles/equipment.

- Complete required documentation for repairs, inspections and daily mechnic logs.

- Daily review of DVIR, repair requests, repairs as necessary and documentation of repairs.

- Performs component identification, quote for parts and minor/major repairs.

- Performs preventive maintenance.

- Performs facility and shop maintenance duties.

- Diagnoses minor mechanical and electronic problems.

- Performs other related duties, tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor.

- Operating hydraulic Oil filter crusher in down time.

- Maintain daily log of all activities during work hours.
