High School Science Teacher - Special Education

Collier Youth Services is a fully accredited non-profit, private school, that services High School and Middle School students. Through quality education, specialized instruction and therapeutic support, students come to experience themselves as caring, talented and high achieving individuals. We provide students with individual and group counseling. Collier Middle School seeks a Science Teacher.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and educate students individually and in small groups
• Develop and implement lessons and activities through multi-sensory approach
• Provide students with differentiated instruction and behavioral modification
• Understand and align instruction based on IEP
• Maintain and establish relationships, routines and procedures within the classroom
• Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
• Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities
• Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and school policies
• Must complete evaluations, daily reports, grades and other reports
• Maintain a healthy and safe environment for students

Qualifications:

• Must have Teacher of the Handicapped Certification or Teacher of Students with Disabilities
• Must have K-12 NJ Teaching Certification with specialization in Science (Environmental Science, Physics, and Chemistry preferred but open to any)
• Must have experience working with students with disabilities
• Experience with differentiated instruction
• Strong background in behavior modification and classroom management strategies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
