Job Title: Hispanic Outreach Parent Educator – Bilingual (Spanish-English)
Reports to: Director of Programs
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Central North Carolina (Forsyth and surrounding counties)

The Role and Responsibilities
BEGINNINGS is seeking an impartial, compassionate, relationship-driven, and culturally competent Hispanic Outreach Parent Educator. In this role, you’ll build trusted connections with Hispanic families, providing in-home support, resources, and personalized guidance to empower them in navigating early intervention, educational systems, healthcare, transition to adulthood supports, and community resources confidently and effectively. You’ll play a vital role in equipping families to become effective advocates for their children by helping them understand their rights, including IEPs and 504 Plans, and guiding them through school meetings and processes to secure essential services within educational and healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Building: Serve as a key contact for families, especially Spanish-speaking families of children of 0-21 years of age, building trust and providing culturally relevant support.
- Family Support: Offer impartial guidance to families regarding hearing loss, including auditory processing disorder (APD), educational rights, and available resources. Provide emotional support and advocacy during school and audiological meetings.
- Outreach and Education: Educate the public and professionals on early hearing detection, intervention, and awareness of hearing loss and APD within the Hispanic community.
- Multitasking and Adaptability: Capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively,ability to think creatively and devise solutions and responsible for upholding a substantial, as-needed caseload..
- Team Collaboration: Act as a supportive, team-oriented colleague, contributing to a collaborative and enthusiastic work environment.
- Material Development: Collaborate with team members to create culturally relevant materials and resources. Occasional translation may be required.
- Community Engagement: Strengthen partnerships with community organizations and enhance visibility within the Hispanic community. Must be available to participate in BEGINNINGS sponsored events outside of normal business hours, including some evenings and/or weekends.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Deaf, Early Childhood Development, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Language and Cultural Competence: Native/Heritage Spanish speaker with Excellent oral and written communication. Must be adept at understanding and adapting to regional Spanish variations and culturally specific terminology to provide inclusive, respectful, and effective communication. Knowledge of ASL or Cued Language is helpful but not required.
- Experience: Prior work in family support, community outreach, or case management, particularly with Hispanic or multilingual communities.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with case management software and online meeting platforms.
- Travel: Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance; travel of 600-1000 miles per month required, with mileage compensation provided. Domestic trips related to meetings, training and other events as required.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: $59,000 - $61,000 per year, based on experience.
- Benefits: 401(k) with matching, health insurance paid for the employee and available for the family at a percentage, paid time off.
Work Environment
The position is expected to be a standard 40 hours per week, with core hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, hours may vary based on work demands, and the role may require extended periods of driving and sitting during meetings throughout the five-day workweek.
