Acadiana CARES, in conjunction with the LDH / Office of Public Health/STD/HIV/Hepatitis Program, is seeking applicants for an HIV Surveillance Supervisor – Data Analyst position to oversee all HIV surveillance activities for the Louisiana Office of Public Health STI/HIV/Hepatitis Program (SHHP). The incumbent will lead a team of four direct reports in the processing of statewide HIV case report and laboratory data and dissemination of surveillance findings.

Primary duties and responsibilities: Maintain data quality assurance and management standards and provide expertise on enhancement of data quality assurance and control practices to ensure program meets federal HIV surveillance data standards. Have intermediate to advanced SAS skills in order to clean, modify, and link datasets as well as develop data processing efficiencies to meet programmatic data needs. Coordinate and oversee routine and ad hoc epidemiologic analyses for presentations, reports, factsheets, public health communications, research publications, and conference presentations. Monitor and evaluate HIV/AIDS surveillance data in order to identify changes in data trends. Present at professional meetings to reach a diverse group of stakeholders, including the healthcare and public health communities, the general public, and at national conferences and meetings. Serve as HIV subject matter expert on internal projects and external collaborations with local, national, and academic research partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Biostatistics Epidemiology or related field. 2+ years of relevant experience. Strong written and verbal skills required. Experience with SAS and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with HIV or other infectious disease data. Experience with ArcGIS or Tableau. Supervisory experience.

Ability to work with people of diverse lifestyles required. Prior experience working in an HIV service, HIV prevention, healthcare, mental health, or substance abuse rehabilitation program preferred.
