Job Title: Housing & Community Resources Assistant
Job Summary:
Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity is seeking a Housing & Community Resources Assistant to join our established team in connecting individuals and families with housing-related services that support long-term health and stability. This role focuses on addressing housing as a social determinant of health by helping people access critical resources, educating communities on healthy housing practices, and advocating for safe, affordable housing in our region.
As the Housing & Community Resources Assistant, you'll play a role in supporting our mission of building homes, communities, and hope by serving as a trusted resource for vulnerable and underserved populations throughout our nine-county service area.
Key Responsibilities:
Housing Navigation & Advocacy
- Assist individuals in applying for home repair, emergency assistance, and housing programs through Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity
- Provide support and referrals to ensure housing stability
- Advocate for clients to help overcome barriers to safe, secure housing
Community Outreach
- Promote housing-related programs in underserved areas
- Build relationships with community members, organizations, and local service providers
- Represent Wild Rivers Habitat at events, meetings, and community gatherings as needed
Education & Support
- Coordinate workshops on topics such as budgeting, home maintenance, and healthy housing habits
- Collaborate with team members and partners to provide community educational events and resources
Client Support & Reporting
- Maintain detailed client records and documentation of services provided
- Conduct follow-up communications to track progress and outcomes
- Assist with data collection and reporting for program evaluation
Team Support
- Assist with Habitat events, volunteer engagement, and cross-departmental projects
- Contribute to the development and improvement of housing and health programming
- Support initiatives that highlight the connection between housing and health
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; postsecondary education and/or nonprofit experience a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrate compassion and kindness while meeting diverse populations “where they are,” providing respectful, nonjudgmental support.
- Organized and capable of managing multiple cases and tracking outcomes
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (position includes local travel)
Work Environment:
This position includes a combination of in office work at our Spooner, WI location, project site visits, and community-based outreach. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required. Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity serves a rural nine-county area in Northwestern Wisconsin.
