About the San Luis Valley

The San Luis Valley is located in beautiful south-central Colorado. It is the world’s largest alpine valley and is comprised of six counties: Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache. About La Puente Home, Inc.

La Puente is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving Colorado's San Luis Valley by providing food, shelter, and advocacy for the homeless and community members in crisis. La Puente was founded in 1982 and endeavors to meet immediate needs and to empower people to live independently with dignity. The organization operates a homeless shelter and soup kitchen, a network of 14 food pantries, homeless prevention services, a transitional living program for families, after school and summer programs for at-risk children, and a community garden and nutrition education program.

Job purpose

The Housing Stability Manager will direct disbursement of funding for Homelessness Prevention, Rapid Re-Housing, and Eviction Mediation services and provide case management to clients receiving assistance. The manager will coordinate case management services for clients receiving short-term or one-time assistance. The manager will also maintain contact with local landlords and property management companies to build relationships and trust. Finally, the manager will travel to the 5 outlying counties of the SLV to perform outreach and raise awareness of La Puente’s services. The goal of this position is to prevent homelessness for those at risk; help those experiencing homelessness secure long-term housing placements; and provide a suite of supportive services to prevent future homelessness amongst both populations.

Duties and responsibilities

● Assess potential clients for program eligibility

● Work with clients to develop a comprehensive housing stabilization plan to maintain housing

● Maintain regular contact with each program enrollee to assess progress on housing stabilization plan

● Develop a knowledge of other supportive services in order to make appropriate referrals

● Coordinate with tenants and landlords to provide timely updates about each case

● Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain appropriate documentation

● Input data and expenditures into relevant data systems

● Build and maintain relationships with landlords and property management companies

● Perform outreach to the 5 outlying counties to boost accessibility of La Puente’s services


● Case management/social work experience

● Technologically literate

● Must be able to be on La Puente’s vehicle insurance

● Experience building out/managing programs

● Experience managing grant funds

Wages and Benefits

Salary - 38k - 42k; DOE
