Seeking the right candidate to join our small team! This individual will be responsible for inspection of all incoming inventory (components, assemblies and finished product) to ensure conformance to purchase order, drawing, and/or specification requirements, as well as inspection of circuit board assemblies conforming to IPC standards. (In our small company, we all wear many hats.) Please note we have no budget for relocation or sponsorship now or in the future.

Previous Education/Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent

One (1) to two (2) years QA and inspection experience of electronic components

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to interpret and work to current IPC-A-610 standard
  • Ability to operate hand measuring equipment and tools
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process
  • Knowledge of electronic components
  • Understanding of ISO 9001; ability to follow written instructions and look for opportunities for improvement
  • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), as well as MRP software, to document and manipulate quality data
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Problem solving skills to assist in elimination of errors and their causes
  • Ability to follow and/or document processes
  • Ability to communicate quality concerns to employees and train them in the proper method of assembly to meet the quality criteria.
  • The person in this role must have excellent interpersonal skills as s/he will be required to work with all levels of employees, management and customers/vendors

Job Responsibilities (E = Essential Function):

The duties and responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Incoming Inspector include but are not limited to the following:

E: Inspect incoming materials including circuit board assemblies, hand soldering, assembly operations, completed products and other miscellaneous inspection activities as required.

E: Inspect parts for surface defects and abnormalities in plastics and metal products.

E: Inspect layouts and installation of wiring, cables, sub-assemblies, hardware and components to detect assembly errors.

E: Inspect alignment of parts and measure parts for conformance to specified dimensions.

E: Trace cables and harness assemblies in process, follow cable-wiring diagrams to verify routing of wires to specified connections and conformance of cable lacing and insulation to manufacturing standards.

E: Measure plated areas for uniformity and thickness.

E: Inspect first articles and make sure that they are processed in a timely manner with other responsible departments.

E: Document all inspection data in the appropriate databases.

E: Perform in-process inspection to confirm quality and verify first piece has been inspected.

E: Train personnel in the proper documentation and implementation of quality standards to achieve standards in inspection.

E: Maintain incoming products according to shelf-life per procedure.

E: Inform Materials of any incoming quality issue and report it into the appropriate Quality tracking database.

E: Perform Internal Audits as required/assigned

  • Support Documentation Control (write, edit, control ISO documentation/procedures/work instructions.)
  • Cross-train and perform final inspection as required.
  • Provide assistance to the Quality Manager, Production and the Materials Department as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
