Job Summary:

The Indigent Patient Advocate position is performed under the direction and supervision of the Community Services Coordinator. This position is responsible for assessing the need for prescription medication assistance and managing the client’s case from the initial application until medication is received or denied.

The Indigent Patient Advocate services the Warner Robins and Eastman regions (office base will be determined by candidate’s home location).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with the application process, coordinating with applicant’s medical professional for necessary information, following up to verify receipt of drugs and continued participation in the program
  • Implement and coordinate the Indigent Patient Program throughout the service area.
  • Interpret and promote the program to the general public and program beneficiaries through printed materials, verbal communication and community events
  • Work effectively and maintain open communication with the Pharmaceutical Companies and physician offices
  • Prepare reports and other such documents as required by the agency and funding source; maintain records and recommend program changes as necessary
  • Participate in available training deemed beneficial for this position
  • Possess reliable transportation and availability to travel, including overnight, when required
  • Supervise staff; enforce policy and procedures; perform personnel evaluations and recommend personnel action as needed
  • Monitor files for contract compliance; ensure pharmaceutical policies and regulations are implemented
  • These duties are not all-inclusive and the employee will also perform other related duties as assigned by the department head, supervisor, or other member of management

Job Skills – Must do:

  • Ability to communicate and maintain rapport with all areas of the community.
  • Coordinate the program with minimum supervision, meet deadlines, and able to continue to work effectively under situations creating pressure and/or stress.
  • Deal effectively with the elderly and/or clients who may be physically and/or mentally challenged.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze problems and make recommendations for resolution based on the findings.
  • Make mature decisions on a daily basis within accordance with agency and program procedures.

Job Knowledge – Must Know:

  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems, including such software as Word and Excel at a minimum, with ability to quickly and proficiently learn other hardware products and software applications, as required.
  • Knowledge of modern operation of office equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge and awareness of the problems of low income residents.

Minimum Requirements of the Position:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Case management experience preferred
  • Experience working with low income population desired
  • Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551)
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT TO EXCEED 6 PTS)
  • Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
