Description

Vital DiagnosTech is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Infection Preventionist. As an Infection Preventionist, you will play a vital role in preventing and controlling the spread of infections within the facility. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in infection control practices and contribute to ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement infection prevention and control policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with regulatory guidelines and best practices.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits of infection control practices and processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and communicable diseases, and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop strategies for prevention and mitigation.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare personnel on infection control principles, hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and other infection prevention practices.
  • Investigate outbreaks of infectious diseases within the facility, including conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Serve as a resource and liaison for infection prevention-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to staff, patients, and families.
  • Collaborate with environmental services, occupational health, and other departments to ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization practices are maintained.
  • Participate in infection control committees, task forces, and quality improvement initiatives to promote a culture of safety and infection prevention.
  • Stay current with developments in infection control practices, emerging infectious diseases, and regulatory requirements, and disseminate relevant information to stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparation for regulatory inspections, surveys, and accreditation processes related to infection prevention and control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
  • Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital or long-term care facility.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control principles, epidemiology, and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data and implement evidence-based strategies for infection prevention.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data analysis software preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in the handling of sensitive information.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and respond effectively to infectious disease outbreaks or emergencies.
