ITS Vice Presidency Context:
Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations. Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.
The Information & Technology Solutions Internship Program (ITSIP) offers an opportunity for highly motivated women to gain exposure to the mission and work of the World Bank Group. The internship program aims to bring new perspectives and build a pipeline of talent as part of the World Bank Group’s continued efforts to diversify our workforce. The interns will contribute to teams working in various IT sectors such as finance, engineering, infrastructure, architecture, risk, information security, etc.
In 2023, the Information & Technology Solutions Internship Program will select up to eight (8) interns including six women from universities outside of the US and two women from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The internship program will take place at the World Bank Group Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for approximately three (3) months from September 15 to December 15, 2023. The program will provide a competitive salary range from US $23-US $30/hour for a total of 500 hours, 40 hours per week. Return flights will be covered for international interns. Interns are responsible for their own accommodations during the program.
By the end of the internship, the individual will have obtained valuable experience in their chosen IT sector, gained a deep understanding of the World Bank Group's mission and work, and developed strong skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and project management within a diverse and global team.
Information Security Intern will be responsible for specific tasks and/or projects in the following field:
Department: Information Technology Solutions,Information Security (ITSIS)
The ITS Information Security and Risk Management (ITSSR) unit, headed by the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), is responsible for providing leadership in managing the functions and activities of information security and risk across the World Bank Group, enabling the achievement of WBG’s business objectives. ITSSR enables and facilitates a risk aware culture, ensures that WBG information assets are protected in an effective, efficient, and balanced manner; and IT security and risk management efforts throughout the World Bank Group are coordinated and aligned to the Bank's business and IT strategy.
ITSSR establishes and maintains the World Bank Group's IT and InfoSec policies and standards; develops and engineers the WBG’s information security plans and solutions; responds to security incidents; and ensures that the information risks are identified, assessed, and managed in consistent with the overall risk management approach and with the established appetite and tolerance. The position is within the ITSIS (ITS Information Security) Unit.
· Good understanding of Networking and operating system.
· Proficiency in any scripting languages like Python.
· Cyber Security related projects or certificates is a plus.
· Possess excellent verbal communication skills, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Duties and Accountabilities:
General duties and accountabilities include, but not be limited to the following:
· To Participate in day-to-day activities Security Monitoring at the WBG Information Security Operations Center
· To support the project team with any technical tasks.
· Research project on departmental topics
Candidates must be female students from from universities outside of the US or from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), who are pursuing a master’s degree and enrolled in an Information and Technology graduate degree program including but not limited to Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Database Management, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Technology Management, Software and Application Development, Robotics, UX / Design or a related field.
