ITS Vice Presidency Context:
Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations. Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.
The Information & Technology Solutions Internship Program (ITSIP) offers an opportunity for highly motivated women to gain exposure to the mission and work of the World Bank Group. The internship program aims to bring new perspectives and build a pipeline of talent as part of the World Bank Group’s continued efforts to diversify our workforce. The interns will contribute to teams working in various IT sectors such as finance, engineering, infrastructure, architecture, risk, information security, etc.
In 2023, the Information & Technology Solutions Internship Program will select up to eight (8) interns including six women from universities outside of the US and two women from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The internship program will take place at the World Bank Group Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for approximately three (3) months from September 15 to December 15, 2023. The program will provide a competitive salary range from US $23-US $30/hour for a total of 500 hours, 40 hours per week. Return flights will be covered for international interns. Interns are responsible for their own accommodations during the program.
By the end of the internship, the individual will have obtained valuable experience in their chosen IT sector, gained a deep understanding of the World Bank Group's mission and work, and developed strong skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and project management within a diverse and global team.
Information Technology Solutions Financial Engineering Intern will be responsible for specific tasks and/or projects in the following field:
Department: Information Technology Solutions Financial Engineering (ITSFE)
ITSFE provides systems and technology support to mission critical and core financial applications of the WBG, which enables a unified client experience in the areas of Budget Planning & Financial Reporting, while standardizing and streamlining core business functions. It also provides IT solutions to support WBG IDA strategic resource mobilization operations and uses advanced technology for automating business processes for WB staff.
· Business Analysis
· Proficiency in .Net Development & Analytics tools such as Power BI
· Exposure to SAP FM/CO, SAP BW/BI, and SAP BPC solutions.
· Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.,)
· Possess excellent verbal communication skills, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Duties and Accountabilities:
General duties and responsibilities include, but not be limited to the following:
The candidate will be working for the Budget Planning & Financial reporting Product Line during this engagement. The Candidate is expected to contribute to activities of at least one or two of the above domains.
· Work with business users to gather and analyze business requirements and convert these into technical requirements.
· Support existing team in .NET development of web applications that meet business requirements effectively and efficiently.
· Design, plan and lead testing efforts and coordinates feedback of test results.
· Develop test cases, conduct unit, system, stress, integration and/or user testing to ensure requirements are met.
Candidates must be female students from from universities outside of the US or from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), who are pursuing a master’s degree and enrolled in an Information and Technology graduate degree program including but not limited to Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Database Management, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Technology Management, Software and Application Development, Robotics, UX / Design or a related field.
