Description

Vital DiagnosTech is currently seeking an Interventional Radiologic Technologist (IR). The IR Technologist performs routine and emergent interventional radiography procedures in conjunction with under the direction of the Interventional Radiologist, adhering to department protocols on patients of all ages, practices safe radiation dosing for patients including image gently, ensures all required QA is completed, and maintains a clean and safe workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting physicians and other healthcare providers in performing interventional radiology procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, embolization, biopsies, and catheter placements.
  • Preparing and positioning patients for procedures, ensuring proper alignment and patient comfort throughout the process.
  • Operating and maintaining imaging equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
  • Administering contrast media and medications as directed by the physician, monitoring patient vital signs and responses to treatment.
  • Assisting with sterile technique and maintaining a sterile field during procedures to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
  • Collaborating with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality patient care and optimize procedural outcomes.
  • Providing patient education and instructions before, during, and after procedures, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Documenting all procedural details, patient assessments, and outcomes accurately in electronic medical records, adhering to regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
  • Participating in quality assurance activities, including monitoring and evaluating procedural outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment in the interventional radiology suite, ordering supplies as needed, and ensuring proper storage and organization.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Current certification as a Registered Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Additional certification in Vascular Intervention Radiography (VI) or Cardiaac Interventional (CI) American Registry Radiologic Technologist.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a radiologic technologist, with at least 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating interventional radiology equipment and performing complex procedures under fluoroscopic guidance.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to interventional radiology procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced clinical environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs and priorities.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional competency through ongoing education and training in interventional radiology techniques and procedures.
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements and standards of practice in radiologic technology, including HIPAA regulations and radiation safety protocols.
