Position: IT Systems Administrator

Job Description

Watts and Associates, Inc. is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and motivated person with a can-do attitude to join their IT team as a Systems Administrator. This role involves collaborating with other IT professionals to ensure the seamless operation of the company’s IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate quickly learns new technologies, explains technical concepts to non-technical people, and excels at problem-solving. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail are essential. Experience supporting Linux Server, Microsoft workstations, Windows Server, Active Directory, Intune, and Entra ID is required, along with a fundamental understanding of networking principles.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for handling day-to-day information technology (IT) operations.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Provide systems support for end users.
  • Complete support and installation tasks for both hardware devices and software packages.
  • Acquire specialized knowledge to effectively train staff on emerging technologies.
  • Complete administrative tasks when required.
  • Monitor and remove security threats and malware from company systems
  • Trace network failures and research possible solutions.
  • Complete regular backups and perform data recovery.
  • Monitor servers, work with other IT staff to minimize downtime, protecting network confidentiality, integrity, and availability
  • Provide remote support and escalate issues as needed.
  • Create and revise documentation of systems, policies and procedures including desktop procedures, end user procedures, system diagrams, disaster recovery plans, user access audits and test plans.
  • Implement Microsoft Azure architecture that meets technical, security, and business requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience

  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline is required; alternatively, substantial relevant experience as a systems administrator will also be considered.
  • Additional industry and software certifications are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of IT Systems and networking technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft desktop and server technologies.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to individuals without technical backgrounds.
  • A resourceful mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Successful applicant must successfully pass a background check.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This job involves occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force and requires standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Tasks include placing and removing servers from racks and moving desks, desktop computers, and monitors. Regularly, this role requires sitting and viewing a computer screen for extended periods, with occasional travel by car or airplane to other locations. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional system maintenance during evenings or weekends.
