About the Job

The Kinderclub Coordinator position with San Leandro Boys and Girls Clubs requires one to be creative, professional, and serious about providing meaningful after-school opportunities for youth. The position requires a person who is dedicated to nurturing the whole development of children. They are passionate about youth development and early childhood development. They are committed to promoting growth and change in under-served communities. They will be creative, flexible, proactive, punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, Kinderclub Coordinators are responsible for developing and facilitating a school site Kinderclub program which includes enrichment, recreation, and academically rooted activities, as well as strengthening the program’s connection with students, families, and school-day staff. Kinderclub Coordinators will be responsible for oversight and management of daily Kinderclub programming. Kinderclub Professionals build and maintain strong and productive relationships with and among students, school staff, parents, the BGCSL, and members of the San Leandro community. They should be adept at working in a fast-paced environment, youth development best practices, and problem solving.

Location: Please note we serve several school site locations in the San Leandro and San Lorenzo Unified School Districts.

Time Commitment: Monday-Friday (except Wednesdays) 11:45am-6:00pm, Wednesdays 10:30am-6pm, 32.5 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements

  • At Least 2 Years of college (48 units), AA degree, or provide documentation that meets ACOE Instructional Aid requirement or take an equivalency exam
  • Must have experience working or volunteering with youth ages 4-6yrs old
  • Experience teaching specific content area(s) preferred
  • Must be highly motivated to provide quality After School opportunities to youth
  • Must be a team player
  • Proven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds
  • Background/Fingerprint/TB Clearance
  • Must be an effective communicator
  • Must be comfortable leading physical activities with groups of 15-25 youth
  • Must be available daily, Monday through Friday during after school program hours
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Covid-19 vaccination required

Programming Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute lesson plans
  • Support all scenarios defined by school
  • Engage and connect with teachers, principals, staff, and students
  • Create safe spaces for all to display social and emotional challenges

Salary: $25/hour
