I am seeking a unique individual to join the IRIS (Innovation In Interventional Radiology) program at Stanford University as a Lab Director/Manger and Science Writer.

My translational lab is NIH-funded and is focused on Regenerative Medicine, Precision Delivery and Stem Cell Biology. As a practicing physician, I am also involved in clinical trials and in developing translational strategies pathway for the therapies, approaches and devices we are developing in the Lab.

For this position, I require support in writing grant proposals, grant reports and papers with additional oversight in directing multiple facets of my Lab; this will include the day-to-day coordination of multiple active members (>15) and their needs which includes helping implement projects (wet lab skills welcome) to data collection, analysis and manuscript writing, and submission. This person should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate helping lab members and myself with presentations, interfacing with other collaborating labs, and working closely with my AA for general lab developmental and running needs. This position is ideal for a recent graduate transitioning to project management or science writing, or even an established lab manager who has experience with scaling a lab enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Have a scientific background, understand the literature, and conduct searches related to our core projects
  • Proactive in identifying funding sources to support existing and planned research activities which can include fellowship awards for individual lab members to larger lab-based funding
  • Help to develop and write grant proposals to state, federal, and private institutions
  • Help with coordinating data collection, storage, and processing
  • Tracking budgets and developing strategies to ensure efficient lab running
  • Developing lab-based protocols for standardization
  • Writing grant reports and coordinating paper and patent submissions
  • Basic wet lab skills so help facilitate projects at certain times
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to write and present clearly and efficiently
  • Excellent command of English – both vocabulary and grammar
  • Coordinate and work with high-functioning teams in a fast-paced environment.
