Full job description
We are seeking a passionate and driven Land Operations Manager to join our mission of meeting the critical needs in West Maui by helping our land assets reach their fullest potential. In this pivotal role, you'll be charged with oversight of various aspects of transforming and maintaining MLP's land assets.
Job Summary:
As Land OperationsManager, you'll be empowered to:
- Be a key team member in bringing MLP's lands back into productive uses such as agriculture, outdoor activities, eco-tourism, conservation, and more
- Assist in developing and implementing strategic land utilization plans
- Lead and managing aina-based and ocean-based community Initiatives such as hunting, fishing, gathering, and other activities on MLP's lands
- Establish and respectfully maintain various stakeholder relationships including community groups, tenants, government, commercial partners, neighbors and vendors
- Assist with management of various cultural, conservation, or natural resources
- Actively manage MLP assets and properties to ensure maintenance, safety, access, security, conservation, risk mitigation, fire control, and community goals are being met
- Understand and implement property access and security protocols to protect MLP property rights and reduce unauthorized activities on MLP properties.
- Manage tenant relationships, perform inspections, and generate reports to verify lease agreement terms and conditions are being met
- Lead and manage a diverse network of contractors, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Recommend strategies to MLP leadership to on any and all issues dealing with MLP lands
- Work independently, thrive in the outdoors, and be a self-starter with a can-do spirit.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have an understanding and/or connection to West Maui's community
- Have 5+ years of experience in management of land assets, conservation, agriculture, and/or real estate
- College degree not required for this role, but equivalent experience and knowledge will be highly considered
- Valid drivers license and basic computer skills
- Demonstrate expertise in one or more areas like land/property management, heavy equipment, agriculture, conservation, forestry, landscaping, ranching, or infrastructure.
- Possess strong management, communication, and stakeholder engagement
- Understanding of financial management and reporting
- Be a passionate leader with a collaborative spirit and a results-oriented mindset.
- Be able to complete physically strenuous work activities in remote areas.
Additional Qualification (Desired):
- Proficient in Native Hawaiian language or a deep understanding of Hawaiian culture.
- Experience operating heavy machinery and tools
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders.
