Full job description

Are you looking for an opportunity to serve at a community-oriented police agency? We are hiring for day and mid-shift coverage.

The Lake Monticello Owners’ Association (LMOA) – is a private community of approximately 12,000 residents located in Fluvanna County, Virginia. The LMOA employs a team of community minded Private Police Officers to serve our residents and their guest. Private Police Officers are sworn law enforcement officers with authority in the Lake Monticello community. Our main focus is maintaining peace and good order within the community.

As a sworn law-enforcement officer, applicants must meet all the requirements established by the Department of Criminal Justice Services for law-enforcement officers. Lake Monticello Police Officers perform general duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of Virginian laws, Fluvanna County ordinances, and LMOA rules and regulations within the confines of the Lake Monticello community.

The work in this position consists typically of proactive community patrol, call response, investigation of criminal activity, and medical assistance. Police Officer duties involve an element of personal danger, and candidates must be able to act without immediate supervision and exercise sound independent judgment in meeting emergencies.

What we are looking for:

· An experienced law-enforcement officer with dedication to community service and building positive relationships.

· The ability to interact with our residents and guests to resolve problems in a fair and impartial manner.

· Applicants must have been DCJS Certified as a law enforcement officer within the past 5 years and eligible for certification.

· Requires satisfactory results from a medical evaluation, pre-employment substance abuse testing, and comprehensive background investigation

What we offer:

In addition, full-time LMOA employees enjoy complimentary use of the golf course, free membership to the pool, and discounts at LMOA restaurants. A take-home car program is also offered. With VA DCJS certification and Virginia LEO experience, the salary is negotiable DEQ. This is NOT a VRS-covered position, making it great for recent VA retired LEOs.
