About the Ideal Candidate:

The Lead Carpenter (Artisan) must have the skills and experience to perform all construction tasks for home building while providing onsite guidance and supervision on large jobs and crews unassisted. As Lead Artisan, you will be the primary point of contact onsite, and will relay information between the owners, internal team members, trade partners, and materials suppliers, and must continually foster a positive relationship with all parties involved. The Lead Artisan will also ensure that the job is completed on or before the scheduled completion date while staying within budget while upholding the core values, craft, technique and aesthetics of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Read and comprehend architectural drawings and blueprints.
• Must be experienced to lead all phases of home construction and advanced building practices.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on industry systems and assist in project tasks.
• Execute on project timelines and prevent cost and schedule overruns.
• Assist in the internal handoff meetings to ensure effective communication and transition of project documents.
• Coordinate all product & building materials.
• Ensure safety compliance and adhere to building standards.
• Attend project meetings.
• Perform daily job logging.
• Coordinate allowances and project changes through change control.
• Coordinate and report to the Project Manager on job status, outstanding items, and status updates.
• Must have own vehicle and tools to perform the job.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in residential construction is required.
• Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Possess a strong work ethic and a spirit of collaboration.
• Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task effectively
• Advanced knowledge of structures and residential construction principals.
• Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications.
• Proficiency in building science, wall systems, and green building design.
• Ideally also possess skills in some aspects of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
• Must possess leadership abilities and be capable of problem solving.
• Own basic carpentry tools and be responsible for own tools.
• Experience with Buildertrend a plus.

Experience:

• Construction Experience: 5 years (Preferred)
• Carpentry: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)
