About Us:
The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is a next-generation sawmill operator focused on sustainable manufacturing of dimensional wood products. TLM is the process of designing a state-of-the-art modular sawmill optimal for producing high-grade dimensional products, with a focus on simplicity and fast construction. TLM is backed by leading investors including Cantos, Slow Ventures, Susa Ventures, Banter, and Ravelin Capital.
TLM seeks an experienced, curious, and solution-oriented data scientist to lead its efforts in using data science for industry-specific software innovations. The ideal candidate will have education in data science, computer science, and/or statistics, and prior exposure to industrial uses for machine learning.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of state-of-the-art (SOTA) computer vision tools using TensorFlow, PyTorch, and/or Roboflow.
- Develop and manage complete ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines centered around computer vision models.
- Utilize cloud platforms such as Google Cloud and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deploy and scale data science solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to integrate machine learning models into production systems.
- Conduct data analysis and provide actionable insights to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Stay current with the latest research and advancements in data science, machine learning, and computer vision.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with commensurate experience.
- Proven experience in designing and building advanced computer vision models and solutions.
- Strong expertise in TensorFlow, PyTorch, and/or Roboflow.
- Experience with ETL processes and pipeline development.
- Proficiency in using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) for deploying machine learning models.
- Solid programming skills in Python, and familiarity with other programming languages such as R or Java is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Prior exposure to industrial applications of machine learning and data science is highly desirable

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
