Lead Mechanical Technician

As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician to join our team at our state-of-the-art Solar Panel Recycling Facility.

Position Overview:

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery within our Solar Panel Recycling Facility. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of mechanical systems to support the recycling process and maximize productivity. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability by supporting the operation of renewable energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leads installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery, including conveyors, crushers, shredders, and sorting systems.

2. Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and efficiency of mechanical systems.

3. Troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve root causes.

4. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement improvements and modifications to mechanical systems.

5. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with mechanical equipment and machinery.

6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs.

7. Assist with the training and mentoring of junior technicians as needed.

8. Support other departments with mechanical expertise as required.

Qualifications:

1. Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical engineering, mechanical technology, or a related field.

2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a mechanical technician or in a similar role in an industrial setting, preferably in the renewable energy or recycling industry.

3. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment.

4. Knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment such as variable speed drives, conveyors, gear boxes, fitting bearings, connecting couplings, belts, chains, sprockets and pulleys under precise tolerances.

5. Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

6. Basic welding and fabrication experience (tack welding).

7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

8. Strong attention to detail and commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of mechanical systems.

9. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
