Here are the details:

Mill Creek ECP is guided by the Reggio Emilia-inspired principles and believes that children are natural learners and investigators. Children need time to explore and discover their world. As a Reggio inspired program our teachers partner with students to dive deeper into big questions. Our teachers use the environment as the third teacher and engage in research-based practices while infusing the arts and academics into passion-driven questions and curiosities.

  • Collaborate with co-educators to create a vibrant student centered Reggio-inspired experience and participate in advancing the school vision.
  • Empower students to create questions and develop projects that lead them to create, invent and express their thinking.
  • Create a student-centered classroom environment where student passion and interest is valued and empowered, where relationships serve as the foundation of the community.
  • Build a classroom community where social/emotional/behavioral development is built on relationships and a mindset for growth.
  • Apply research-based teaching strategies to the design of instruction, accept growth feedback with positivity and continually pursue refining teaching skill.
  • Curate documentation (floorbooks, child portfolio’s, and brightwheel) of student thinking and creative process and coach student projects and monitor progress through evidence of mastery.
  • Collaborate with co-educators, Pedagogista, and others to develop driving questions, problems and design challenges based on academic standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to assess effectiveness and promote organizational learning.
  • Seek to continually grow as a Reggio inspired educator, an innovator and accomplished instructor by engaging in consistent goal setting, research, and growth towards the practice and craft of teaching and learning. (minimum of 15 hours/yr)
  • Ensure safety and supervision of the children while allowing developmentally appropriate risk assessment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with children, families, and Co-Educators
  • Complete observations for individual portfolios (2x’s a month), authentic assessment tool (3x’s a year) and parent-teacher conferences (2x’s a year).
  • Attend monthly school meeting and participate in Mill Creek ECP family/school events.
