LIFE Wellness and Counseling Services

Master's Therapist (Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker)

Position Description

Job Purpose: Evaluate children, teens, adults, families, and/or couples through interview and observation, utilize assessments when vital, use evidenced-based therapy techniques to assist in achieving treatment goals.

Part-time or Full-time days and/or weekends Office, Community, and or Telehealth

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Collect information about clients, using interviews, case formulations, and other assessment methods.
  • Analyze data such as interview notes, test results, and reference manuals to diagnose the nature of clients' problems utilizing the DSM-5 T-R.
  • Use evidenced-based techniques to assist clients in reaching their goals.
  • Maintain timely documentation.
  • Adheres to policy and procedures, knowledgeable of ethical guidelines.
  • Follows independent contractor protocol and has liability insurance.
  • Develop therapeutic treatment plans based on clients' goals and needs.
  • Counsel children, teens, adults, and/or families to help them understand problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans.
  • Recommend strategies to clients to help them reach their goals.
  • Evaluate counseling methods to determine the reliability and validity of treatments.
  • Consult with other professionals to discuss therapies, treatments, counseling resources, or techniques.
  • Refer clients to psychiatrists, doctors, or other specialists for treatment of problems; collaborate with these professionals.
  • Collaborate with staff in a teamwork atmosphere.


  • State LPC license or LCSW---- (LPC-IT AND APSW)
  • Highly ethical conduct & practice in the clinical realm
  • Experience with research-based methods such as CBT, behavior therapy, emotion-based therapy, relaxation techniques.

Experience and Education:
Minimum requirements:

  • Master's degree (LPC or LCSW) and LPC or LCSW license or training license
  • SAC-IT, SAC, CSAC's are encouraged to apply as well.
  • Graduate and post-graduate therapy and assessment experience with children or teens, adults, and/or families, & couples

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Prioritizes ethics and excellence in the conceptualizing, relationship, and treatment arenas.
  • Philosophy and Theory - Knowledge of different cultures, philosophical systems, and religions. This includes their basic values, ethics, ways of thinking, customs, practices, and impact on humans.
  • Therapy and Counseling - Knowledge of theory, principles, research-based methods and assessments, and procedures for diagnosis & treatment. Ability to relate to clients.
  • Psychology - Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and mental health disorders.
  • Complex Problem Solving - Knowledge to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Judgment and Decision Making - Knowledge of the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate decision. Using continual evaluation of the therapy process to determine techniques in view of client well-being. Follows ethical standards.
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes relating to clients, client’s needs assessment, meeting quality standards of care, evaluation of customer satisfaction in reaching therapeutic goals, assertiveness, and conflict management skills.
  • Required note and report writing skills.
  • Time management skills in personal and professional arenas.
  • Team-work skills with staff and colleagues.

Tools/Technology Required:

  • Experience with psychological assessment for psychologists.
  • Basic experience with electronic records.
