JOB DESCRIPTION

Unlicensed Professional/MHP

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

Qualifications

  • The Unlicensed Professional/MHP that provide CPST, except counseling, shall have one of the following:
  • a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology or any related field only to the 3 listed here;
  • The Unlicensed Professional/MHP that provide counseling services shall have a master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology or any related field only to the 3 listed here.

Responsibilities/Expectations

The Unlicensed Professional/Mental Health Professional (MHP) has the following responsibilities:

  • provide direct care to clients and may serve as primary counselor to specified caseload under clinical supervision;
  • serve as resource person for other professionals and paraprofessionals in their specific area of expertise;
  • attend and participate in individual care conferences, treatment planning activities and discharge planning;
  • function as the client’s advocate in all treatment decisions affecting the client; and
  • prepare and write notes or other documents related to recovery (e.g. assessment, progress notes,
  • treatment plans, etc.)

The responsibilities of the Unlicensed Professionals/MHP, when providing CPST services include:

  • assisting the client with effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that would risk the client remaining in a natural community location;
  • assisting in the development of daily living skills specific to managing a home; and
  • assisting the client and family members to identify strategies or treatment options associated with the client’s mental illness.

The responsibilities of the Unlicensed Professionals/MHP, when providing Crisis Intervention services include:

  • performing the preliminary screening;
  • assisting the program’s LMHP in conducting the assessment;
  • developing and implementing an individualized written crisis plan from the assessment that provides procedures to reduce the risks of harm to the client and others as well as follow-up procedures;
  • consulting with physician or the LMHP when necessary;
  • providing short term crisis intervention, including crisis resolution and debriefing with the client;
  • contacting family members when necessary; and
  • following up with the client and as necessary, with family members and/or caretaker.

  • have experience in administering crisis intervention techniques that work to minimize the risk of harm to self or others.
  • have experience in CPST services.
  • ability to provide clinical supervision of the CPST staff.

Responsibilities/Expectations

The Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) has the following responsibilities:

  • provide direct care to clients utilizing the core competencies of mental health counseling and may serve as primary counselor to specified caseload;
  • serve as resource person for other professionals in their specific area of expertise;
  • attend and participate in individual care conferences, treatment planning activities, and discharge planning;
  • provide on-site and direct professional supervision of any unlicensed professional or inexperienced professional;
  • function as the client’s advocate in all treatment decisions affecting the client; and
  • prepare and write notes or other documents related to recovery (e.g. assessment, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge, etc.).
  • assign direct care staff caseload based on the needs of the clients and their families with emphasis on successful outcomes and individual satisfaction and meets the needs identified in the individual treatment plan.

The responsibilities of the LMHP when providing Crisis Intervention services include:

  • conduct the assessment of risk, mental status and medical stability;
  • to be available for consultation and support; and
  • to supervise the development and implementation of each crisis plan.
