Position Summary
ARC is seeking a full-time non-exempt Life Coach. The Life Coach (LC) is responsible for assisting all members in the Sacramento office attain optimal quality of life. The LC will be part of the member services team and provide support and life skills training for formerly incarcerated members for both men and women. LC’s are responsible for assessing needs and making referrals where appropriate. It is a challenging position that requires a self-motivated multi-tasker with a strong case-management and/or residential services provision background. Criminal Justice background is an asset along with passion and commitment to social justice reform.

Essential Job Functions
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of ARC, Northern Region, and the member services team to create comprehensive plans for each member, covering employment, education, recreation, physical and mental health, spiritual growth, life skills, and other activities that enhance the well-being of the member.
- Provide life coaching/case management services to members to ensure all goals/needs/and/or group activities are being met and documentation is entered in the ARC database within 3 business days.
- Connect ARC members to essential reentry resources, including jobs, housing, personal development, addiction treatment, counseling, and education.
- Facilitate evidence-based and/or support groups weekly for ARC members.
- In collaboration with other staff, facilitate the bi- weekly orientation for new members and communicate expectation for the orientation phase
- Attend ARC staff meetings, case conferences, organizational gatherings, retreats, and conferences as requested.
- Collaborate with direct service staff, outreach (via phone calls, texts, emails, and/or Facebook) members regarding upcoming ARC related events, activities, groups, opportunities, etc.
- Coordinate care and interventions with Sacramento Directors and member services team when members are in need of additional support.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Provide in person groups at least once a week inside of Sacramento YDF Detention Facility.
- Assist in organizing women's events, meetings, training and retreats in collaboration with ARC’s women’s department.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Formerly incarcerated and/or system-impacted individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
- One year of case management and group facilitation experience.
- One year of motivational interviewing preferred.
- At least two years of experience and a demonstrated passion for working with people who have experienced incarceration.
- Substantial experience linking formerly incarcerated or underserved individuals to supportive services, including mental health interventions, addiction support, educational enrollment assistance, and vocational training preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of the challenges people experiences after exiting the California juvenile and criminal justice systems.
- Familiarity with the landscape of reentry service providers across California supporting system-involved people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings, as needed.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and collaboratively
- Proficient computer skills using MS Office Suite (Word, excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Physical Requirements
Must have reliable transportation and current California Driver’s License with valid registration and insurance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; drive; use hands and fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch. (The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Keyboard data entry required.
Salary/Benefits
- Pay rate is 24.04/hr. to 26.44/hr. doe.
