Full job description

*Position Closes 5/15/2026*

CARD Lifeguards are responsible for the safety and well-being of all patrons participating in aquatics-related programs and activities. Lifeguards maintain constant surveillance of assigned aquatic areas, proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all users.

Lifeguards actively enforce pool policies, guidelines, and safety procedures with consistency and professionalism, setting clear expectations while supporting a positive recreational experience. When emergencies arise, Lifeguards respond decisively, executing water rescues and providing emergency care using proper techniques, training, and equipment.

This role reflects CARD’s broader philosophy: providing accessible, inclusive, and high-quality recreation that serves the whole community across all ages and abilities. CARD Lifeguards are not only safety professionals, but ambassadors of a public-first, confidence-building approach to aquatics—where safety, respect, and enjoyment of the water are foundational to lifelong participation.

Employment Dates: May 15, 2026- August 14, 2026

Schedule:

Monday-Sunday, shifts will be scheduled anytime between 9:00am-9:00pm, depending on the staff availability.

Lifeguard schedules vary based on facility hours and programming needs. Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Scheduling is built to support consistent public access to the pool while balancing lessons, programs, and special events. While CARD strives to offer flexible scheduling when possible, Lifeguards are expected to maintain reliable availability during peak swim times and high-demand periods to ensure safe and effective aquatic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively patrol and continuously scan aquatic areas to identify potential hazards, unsafe behaviors, or patrons in distress.
  • Enforce pool rules and safety guidelines using preventative lifeguarding techniques and clear, respectful communication.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, performing water rescues with proper technique and judgment.
  • Provide emergency care, including CPR and first aid, in accordance with training and certification standards.
  • Maintain a positive, calm, and welcoming environment that supports safe recreation and enjoyment for all patrons.
  • Accurately complete required administrative documentation, including incident and accident reports, following CARD procedures.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Reliable, responsible, and energetic individuals with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for aquatics and public safety.
  • Self-motivated team members who take ownership of their role, remain attentive on deck, and prioritize the safety and well-being of others at all times.
  • Individuals with strong leadership qualities who are prepared to lead by example, act with professionalism, and positively influence both patrons and fellow staff.
