Job Title: Line Cook

The Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC) visitor experience in Idaho Springs is a state-of-the-art destination connecting guests to Colorado’s rich mining history, scenic mountain trailheads at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park, and sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains from Miner’s Point — a vibrant mountain-top plaza featuring food and beverage, retail, an amphitheater, and year-round events.
Position Overview
The Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC) is seeking a skilled and dependable Line Cook to support food production at Miner’s Point. This role is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes and standards while maintaining food quality, efficiency, and kitchen organization in a high-volume, tourism-driven environment.
The Line Cook works closely with the Culinary Director and kitchen team to ensure consistent food preparation, timely service, and adherence to food safety standards. This position plays an important role in delivering high-quality food that supports the overall guest dining experience.
This role also supports café operations and special events, contributing to a well-organized kitchen environment and efficient food service during peak service periods.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and other cooking equipment.
- Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner to support efficient service flow.
- Maintain quality control of food items, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation standards.
- Prepare bar garnishes and ingredients such as sliced fruit, juices, and mixers as needed to support beverage service.
- Monitor station inventory, maintain three-day par levels, and immediately report items below one day of service.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain an organized and well-stocked workstation throughout service periods.
- Communicate with culinary and service staff to coordinate order timing and service flow.
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures including station setup, cleaning, equipment checks, and restocking.
- Support kitchen operations during peak service periods and special events to ensure efficient food production and service flow.
- Assist at kitchen stations and support the culinary team during peak service periods to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
- Assist with maintaining food safety logs and documentation in accordance with company procedures and health department guidelines.
- Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and smallwares as needed.
- Demonstrate strong communication and proactive teamwork while maintaining a positive, friendly, and approachable attitude.
Sanitation & Food Safety
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of cooking stations, food preparation areas, and kitchen equipment.
- Properly label, store, and rotate food items following FIFO (first-in, first-out) procedures.
- Ensure proper food temperature monitoring and documentation during food preparation and service in accordance with food safety guidelines.
- Follow proper portioning, storage, and preparation procedures to help minimize food waste and support efficient kitchen operations.
- Ensure safe food handling practices in compliance with local health regulations and company policies.
- Accurately complete required kitchen logs, checklists, and operational documentation.
Special Events Support
- Prepare food items and ingredients in advance to support daily service, tourism demand, and special events.
- Assist with food preparation and cooking during high-volume service periods.
- Coordinate with the culinary and food service teams to support event timing and guest service demands.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of kitchen areas during event operations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen or food service environment.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
- Ability to follow recipes, preparation guidelines, and kitchen procedures.
- Strong attention to food quality, safety, and cleanliness.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working as a line cook, cook, or kitchen team member in a restaurant, café, or food service environment.
- Experience working in high-volume hospitality or tourism operations.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and commercial cooking procedures.
Certification Requirements
- Food Handler Certification required at time of hire or ability to obtain within two (4) weeks of hire.

Compensation
- $20.00 - $22.00 / hour, commensurate with experience
- Full-time, Non-exempt
- Paid biweekly
Working Conditions
- On-site position based in Idaho Springs, Colorado.
- Fast-paced kitchen environment requiring standing for extended periods.
- Requires availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on operational needs.
- Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors in varying weather and high-altitude mountain conditions.
