Full job description

Sunrise Centre Inc is a 41 bed treatment facility for individuals seeking detoxification and residential treatment services for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Sunrise Centre is seeking qualified applicants to fill either a full time or part time nursing position covering nights. We will flexibly work with the right candidate on length of shifts and hours and can offer part time or full time. This is an overnight shift (we can explore 10 or 12 hour shifts or even 8 hour shifts if a person wants part time nights 2 or 3 nights per week). Job description as follows:

Purpose of Position: Facilitates continuity of care and performs a variety of services to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for residential and detoxification clients within the scope of practice based on license. Provides direction in the case of medical emergencies by taking charge of all available personnel. Serves as a liaison with primary care and emergency care personnel. Provides guidance to technician staff and monitors their documentation related to wellness of residents.

Qualifications: Credentialing as an LPN or RN. Two or more years of experience providing direct care required. Experience working with recovering communities and peer support groups preferred. Able to implement holistic approach to recovery and mental health wellness. Strong team building skills.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

· Provide care to residential clients by administering medications according to standing orders and policy

· Oversee medication storage, inventory, and administration to clients

· Screen potential admissions to detoxification program

· Perform admission assessments of residential clients

· Initiate, evaluate and update care plans in collaboration with physician or physician’s assistant

· Manage Medication Assisted Treatment for substance use disorder treatment

· Maintain and keep up to date Basic Life Skills

· Maintain all First Aid kits throughout Sunrise Centre and Women’s Recovery Center

· Complete detoxification report

· Provide guidance to technician staff related to resident wellness and needs

· Monitor technician documentation and suggest improvements

· Document observations of client health status, including withdrawal symptoms during detoxification

· Aid in developing and providing motivational counseling, make appropriate referrals using knowledge and professionalism, to encourage and assist clients in seeking further treatment

· Provide holistic wellness education to the residential clients in the group setting as assigned by Clinical Supervisor

· Initiate, evaluate and update care plans in collaboration with physician and working to facilitate continuity of care for clients

· Provide direction in the case of medical emergencies by taking charge of all available personnel

· Observe and documents content in client records.

· Participate in supervisory meetings as scheduled

· Aid in agency and program communication by answering phones, completing triage forms, and making referrals

· Provide agency staff with prevention health care by providing and recording medical tests, and follow up with staff as directed by agency policy

· Coordinate with primary care physicians and pharmacists to affirm their intentions and the agency’s position regarding a client’s ongoing medical treatment while in the program

· Complete authorizations and chart audits

· Complete annual peer review of physician’s charts and prescriptions

· Attend interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client’s supportive plans, progress and possible need for change

· Adhere to all client confidentiality requirements and applicable standards

· Coordinate, prepare and maintain required charting and documentation in a timely manner

· Manage medication set up for all residential clients; prepare Medication Administration Records

· Order medications and refills for all residential clients

· Train new Residential Technicians in tasks related to implementing the wellness plans of residents

· Perform yearly competency testing of all Residential Technicians

· Prepare monthly administrative reports as requested

· Perform TB testing of all residents, detox clients and staff

· Serve on call for emergency medical and detoxification issues outside normal business hours

· Adhere to and monitor CARF standards in regards to medications and detoxification protocols

· Perform any other tasks assigned by the Medical Director

Special Skills/Requirements:

· Participate in mandatory in-service trainings and continuous quality improvement

· Operate computer, scanner, printer, fax, copier, and telephone

· Utilize Word processing, scanning, spreadsheet, and database proficiently

Physical Demands:

· Accept some risk of communicable diseases

. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

· Ability to perform repetitive motions using a keyboard, sit for long periods of time, walk, stand, stair climb, stoop, and bend

· Possess an ability to work comfortably as a team player and thrive in a fast paced environment which requires handling stressful situations

· Able to respond calmly and react immediately during a medical emergency

· Demonstrates competence in cultural issues that impact the lives of clients, including consideration of age, gender, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, and socioeconomic status

· Accepts responsibility for own actions, follows policies and procedures, meets commitments and deadlines

· Able to work cooperatively with all staff and persons served; treats others with respect and promotes a positive work environment

· Able to communicate effectively and selects appropriate methods for communication

· Able to remain alcohol and drug free in the workplace and pass a drug or alcohol screen and background check at any time before and during employment
