Description

Lewiston Housing is recruiting for a maintenance technician who will complete work orders in rental housing owned by Lewiston Housing. This role is a floater position, and will provide support to the various maintenance teams at Lewiston Housing. The ideal candidate must be well organized, be able to adapt to different home environments and provide excellent customer service.

Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Performs basic repairs in plumbing, electrical, heating, carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment, as assigned.
  • Performs minor plumbing tasks such as changing faucet washers, stems, seats, etc., and repairing toilets by changing tank bulbs, overflow tubes, guide wires, etc.
  • Performs minor electrical tasks such as resetting circuit breakers, changing plate covers on switches and outlets, replacing light bulbs, globes, etc.
  • Performs minor building and grounds maintenance and repairs through the use of such tools and equipment as common hand tools, glass cutters, wrenches, pipe cutters, drain augers, shovels, rakes, lawnmowers, snowblowers, caulking guns, trowels, etc.
  • Clears snow and ice from buildings and grounds by shoveling, operating a snow blower, etc. to ensure resident safety.
  • Documents completed work through mobile work order system.

Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational experience preferred
  • Industrial arts/vocational training preferred
  • 2 years experience in building maintenance repair or related field preferred, but we are also willing to provide on-the-job training to those who are interested and have an inclination toward the maintenance field
  • 2 years experience in carpentry, plumbing or electrical repair work preferred, but we are also willing to provide on-the-job training to those who are interested and have an inclination toward the maintenance field
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electricity, heating, carpentry, painting and mechanical equipment, but we are also willing to provide on-the-job training to those who are interested and have an inclination toward the maintenance field
  • Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures
  • Maine driver's license unrestricted except for corrective lenses
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all assignments as mandated
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other agency personnel
  • Ability to relate to and interact with elderly/disabled and family residents in low and moderate-income housing settings
  • Ability to be flexible and perform work under time pressure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.13 - $21.91 per hour
