POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician supports the operation, safety, and upkeep of the church building, grounds, and equipment. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, basic repairs, cleaning, and facility preparation for church activities and events. The position averages 20 hours per week and contributes to creating a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for all who use the church facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility Maintenance & Security
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks in the sanctuary, chapel, Fellowship Hall, offices, preschool, meeting rooms, and building entryways.
- Open and secure the building as needed for church and preschool activities.
Event Set-Up & Breakdown
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, and other equipment for worship services, church events, preschool programs, and outside group use.
Emergency Maintenance & General Repairs
- Respond promptly to urgent facility needs, including spills, leaks, and basic biohazard cleanup.
- Conduct light repairs such as minor installations, painting, furniture fixes, and basic building upkeep.
Vendor & Supply Coordination
- Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking maintenance and restroom supplies.
- Work with approved vendors for repairs and specialized services when directed.
Grounds Maintenance
- Keep outdoor walkways, entrances, and the parking lot clean and free from debris.
- Perform minor landscaping support, including sweeping, watering, or basic plant care.
Collaboration & Support
- Assist the Property Team and church staff with facility-related projects.
- Complete additional duties as requested by the Lead Pastor or Church Council.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in building maintenance, custodial work, or general repairs required.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work alongside staff, volunteers, and outside groups.
- Attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively.
- Must be able to pass all required background checks prior to employment.
