Job Description

The Senior Major Donor Relationship Manager (Major Gift Officer) is a full-time position within the Advancement & Communications Team of SIM USA. This position reports to the Development Director and the Chief Advancement Officer. This role is responsible for securing individual donations for the organization with an emphasis on five and six figure gifts.

To accomplish this goal, it will be expected to build relationships with donors and potential donors utilizing God-honoring practices that encourage Biblical stewardship. Also, the MGF will communicate the mission of SIM USA and personally model a mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and take spiritual responsibility for the people God puts in their path by praying for and shepherding them, serving them by helping them reach their philanthropic goals and being obedient to how God has called them to partner in the great commission through giving. The ideal candidate will have experience in fundraising and philanthropy, as well as strong interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

Ministry to Donors

At SIM USA, donors are our ministry partners. Our goal is to build life-long relationships that honor God and help donors to respond to His calling to be a part of the great commission.

  • Present SIM USA ministry, successes and needs with internal and external stakeholders in ways that motivate them to action and investment.

Strengthen Relationships with Existing Donors & Invite New Donors to Participate

  • Establish a portfolio of organizational donors from those that are already giving to missionaries and global ministry projects
  • Collaborate with Development Director to review and set annual and quarterly performance goals and to submit reports on goals.
  • Create customized relationship strategies for each prospect.
  • Preparation of investment project proposals to major donors that are relevant to donor’s interests, their giving levels and helps acheive capital campaign goals of both cash and estate gifts.
  • Manage and grow donor relationships through personal contact of calls, letters, texts, personal visits, and regular follow-ups with SIM USA major donors while demonstrating godly servant leadership. (travel required 35-50% of the time).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor contacts and communications in Virtuous database system.
  • Organize peer-to-peer meetings with current donors and present SIM with the goal of gaining prospective donor contact information and develop new partnerships regionally.
  • Show appreciation and honor donors.
  • Research to identify new donors.
  • Stay abreast of current giving trends, educational opportunities and legal requirements.

Team Support

  • Works closely with the Advancement Team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Assist with donor events as needed.
  • Assist with other responsibilities as needed.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Organized, self-starter with a strong work ethic and drive for excellence.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful fundraising experience with a philanthropic or non-profit; estate giving experience is desired.
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team.
  • Ability to travel 50%+ of the time including some global travel.

Parameters for Success

  • Exhibit an open demeanor that is genuine with a persuasive communication style.
  • Build existing long-term donor partnerships.
  • Achieve contribution revenue goals by managing a portfolio of donors (100-140) who can cumulatively raise $1,500,000 - $3,000,000 annually for unrestricted gifts with a strategic focus on portfolio growth.
  • Ability to work well on a team and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Able to multi-task yet maintain excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service mindset and commitment to an audience-centric approach
  • Ability to present conceptual ideas in clear and compelling ways

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $82,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
