Manufacturing Engineer

Stresau Laboratory Inc. is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in Spooner, WI. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with other team members to develop, test and implement manufacturing procedures that streamline the production process. The ideal candidate is detail oriented with an ability to manage multiple tasks at once. Has excellent leadership skills, and able to play a key role in our company's continued growth.

Essential Elements for Job Performance:

  • Designing processes for manufacturability and assembly of energetic parts
  • Assure adherence to product drawings and specifications.
  • Communicating with Customers to resolve technical issues
  • Conducting failure analysis to determine and correct root cause
  • Conducting prototype and engineering tests for design verification
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Overseeing testing and qualification of mechanical assemblies
  • Creating and conducting technical presentations on the above items
  • Leads the implementation activities for the introduction of new and advanced projects into manufacturing
  • Performs time observations, waste elimination and line balancing
  • Troubleshoots various segments of the manufacturing process to identify and/or prevent potential problems
  • Evaluates proposed process changes and their impact on quality and productivity prior to implementation
  • Compiles pertinent statistical data to examine emergent trends that would lead to the improvement of processes and/or reduce operational costs
  • Perform hazard analysis on processes, materials and machinery
  • Design process flow diagrams
  • Assists as required in the training of manufacturing personnel to achieve their highest level of proficiency
  • Assists in the composition of manufacturing SOP’s and visual work instructions
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • 1-3 min. years of experience supporting manufacturing
  • Experience working with primary and/or secondary explosives a plus
  • Excellent problem solver and ability to generate innovative solutions to broad range of issues
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to other functions in clear and understandable terms
  • Ability to meet aggressive program deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of DoD 4145.26-M Contractor Safety Manual
  • Working knowledge of 5S Lean Six Sigma practices
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel is a plus, including creating formulas, macros, and charting
  • Ability to follow oral and written guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Has willingness to learn, takes initiative, and offers improvement ideas

Physical Requirements:

Physical capabilities of occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, walking up and down steps and to designated buildings as the situation warrants.

Standing for long periods of time during preparation of a batch, conducting routine tests, etc

Sitting for extended periods of time during writing, drawing and planning activities'
