Marine Mechanic
Excursion vessel operator is seeking applicants for an experienced marine mechanic/Engineer. Excellent pay and benefits for qualified candidate.

Qualified applicants will have prior experience maintaining and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, sanitation, electrical, and electronic systems aboard vessels.

· Diesel engine maintenance and repair, able to trouble shoot problems, make minor repairs and work with techs during major repairs and overhauls. A qualified applicant should be proficient in changing oil, filters, cleaning coolers and strainers, replacing impellers, starters, alternators, turbo’s, blowers, pumps, and engine accessories. Applicant should also have a working of knowledge of diesel engine trouble shooting, how to evaluate things like black or gray versus white smoke, what does an elevated oil level mean, what does engine oil that looks cloudy or milky mean, what does it mean if fresh water system won’t hold cap pressure, etc.

· Transmission and Driveline maintenance and repair. Qualified candidate should have knowledge and demonstrable experience maintaining, troubleshooting and conducting minor repairs on marine transmissions, couplings, shafts, seals, bearings, and propellers to include: Changing gear oil and filters, installing and adjusting sacrificial couplings, checking alignment, cutlas bearings, dripless shaft seals, and propellers.

· Engine Controls and Electronics. Must have a basic understanding of electronic engine controls and trouble shooting including being able to troubleshoot and repair pin harnesses using a Fluke meter and a pinning tool.

· Repair and maintenance of vessel black water pumps, systems, plumbing and fixtures including clearing clogs, repairing and replacing pumps and pump components such as diaphragms, motors, impellers, and macerators, and replacing both PVC and metal piping including the use of pipe glue, threader and pipe dope.

· Vessel Hydraulics. Must have knowledge and demonstrable experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic pumps, cylinders, hoses, valves, and valve blocks, and fittings including changing filters, replacing hoses and fitting, and replacing seals in cylinders and pumps.

· Ship Electrical Systems. Must have knowledge and demonstrable experience with shipboard AC and DC power circuits and systems and marina supplied shore power including: 12V 24V 48V battery banks, chargers, alternators, isolators, and wiring as well as shipboard generator supplied110V and 240V single and three phase power. This includes a working understanding of generator maintenance, wiring, proper technique for making terminal connections, supporting wire runs, and protecting from chafe and shock, replacing bilge pumps, alarms, lighting fixtures, changing out compressors and pumps and motors.

· Marine Electronics. A working knowledge of marine electronics including proper techniques for installation and trouble shooting of VHF radios, antennas, chart plotters, radars, etc. To include maintenance and trouble shooting of engine control systems.

· Vessel Construction and Structural Maintenance. Qualified applicants will have a working knowledge of welding, metal work, fiberglass repair and carpentry so as to be able to understand issues and work with tradesmen conducting repairs and maintenance work.

· Vessel and Crew Safety. Must be able to repair and trouble shoot vessel safety equipment including navigation lights, horn, fire fighting equipment, man overboard apparatus, anchor and ground tackle, etc. Must be knowledgeable about safe working practices including fall arrest gear, respiratory protection masks, protective eyewear etc. and able to supervise and train crew as needed.

· Maintenance Shop and Warehouse will be responsible for the upkeep of our maintenance shop and warehouse to include: Keeping the place clean and tidy, managing waste oil, keeping an accurate spare parts inventory, keeping company tools organized and well maintained.
