Full job description

This position will expand USTA North Carolina’s digital footprint and brand awareness through compelling storytelling. It will also provide data & communications support our statewide network of Community Tennis Associations.

Areas of Responsibility You'll Have:

  • Program Providers
  • USTA North Carolina Volunteers

What You'll Do:
Overall, you will work with our various stakeholders to engage current and potential tennis players. You'll look for ways to tell our story and convey our brand in compelling ways.

More specifically, you will:

  • Manage the day-to-day social media activities, including posting, engaging with various audiences, and analyzing metrics
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Insights, other staff members, and Community Tennis Associations to ideate social media posts, blog articles, video content for TikTok/Reels, and other avenues for storytelling
  • Research, interview, write, edit, proofread, and distribute content for online, print, and media communication
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth
  • Provide guidance on social media implementation, best practices, and strategies to staff and Community Tennis Associations
  • Maintain, update, and foster the continued evolution of USTA North Carolina’s website
  • Work with Director of Marketing and Insights to measure results of marketing activity to inform future marketing campaigns.
  • Design marketing collateral materials for public distribution and special events, including flyers, advertisements, brochures, displays, videos, etc.
  • Design t-shirts, logos and other clothing for various events using vector designs
  • From time to time, attend events throughout state requiring photography and/or media coverage
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in marketing communications
  • Assist the Director of Marketing and Insights in any promotional activities

What You'll Need:
To be successful in this position, you will need have a good understanding of industry trends and best practices in social media. Additionally, your creativity and organization will be cornerstones of your success.

These skills and attributes are helpful as well:

  • Tennis knowledge, experience, and/or background is advantageous
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • One or more years of experience in marketing and/or communications field a plus
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Embracing collaboration in a teamwork environment
  • Marketing and website administrative experience and background is desirable. Coding not necessary.
  • Compelling content creator, using social media platforms for business purposes
  • Competent researcher and writer
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently, while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques

What You’ll Receive

There will be some evening and weekend work, but we have structured our office schedule to be mindful of that. The starting salary range for this position is $39-41K. Work Environment

This position operates in an office setting with routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. At times, this position requires work offsite at trainings, meetings, tournaments, and other special events. Weekend work is required from time to time, including for attendance at tournaments and events.

Physical Demands

While performing the essential duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen. The employee is required to stand and walk frequently. The employee needs to be able to lift 10-20 pounds. The physical demands described must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time non-exempt position. Typical days and core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but may require hours outside of the typical days and core business hours.


The position requires travel including but not limited to meetings, events, and workshops within the State of North Carolina as well as occasional out-of-state travel including nights and weekends.
