As a Marketing Event Specialist at EDCUtah, you'll produce events for two key audiences:

  • EDCUtah investors
  • Site selection consultants and company leaders who bring corporate expansion and relocation projects to EDCUtah

How this job supports EDCUtah’s mission: This position plays an important role in engaging EDCUtah's key audiences. Investor events are intended to equip EDCUtah investors with the information and resources they need to support EDCUtah’s mission and help promote Utah to our shared clients. Industry trade shows, conferences, and site selector familiarization tours are intended to elevate Utah’s reputation among corporate decision-makers as the leading state to do business.

Primary Duties

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all EDCUtah events, including overall event strategy. This includes identifying venues, managing logistics, coordinating with participants and attendees, engaging vendors, developing and adhering to processes and timelines, reporting on all outcomes, and implementing improvements.
  • Maintain an annual events calendar and make recommendations for event topics, format, and promotion.
  • Maintain an events budget, monitor spending, and make budgetary recommendations as needed.
  • Manage EDCUtah’s inventory of branded “swag” and develop concepts for new items.
  • Coordinate with EDCUtah executives and staff to ensure that event workflows and deadlines are being met.
  • Ensure all team members are updated on the details of upcoming events and their related support roles.
  • Collaborate with EDCUtah’s digital marketing specialist to identify and produce event-related content.
  • Create event presentations and update slide decks for EDCUtah executive staff and external stakeholders.
  • Help ensure all documents, presentations, and marketing collateral conform to EDCUtah’s style guide.
  • Contribute to the marketing team’s original content creation, secondary content collection, and publishing to the website, social media, and EDCUtah’s newsletter.
  • Assist in reviewing and proofing email campaigns, social media content, presentations, profiles, custom reports, industry summaries, letters, etc.
  • Contribute to the upkeep and ongoing maintenance of EDCUtah’s Salesforce and mailing list databases, including general investors, board of advisors, board of trustees, RFIs, special events, site selectors, etc.
  • Identify any issues and resolve them in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with virtual event platforms
  • Experience managing an events or program budget
  • Demonstrated understanding of events strategy
  • Excellent communications skills, particularly writing

Preferred

  • 2+ years’ experience in similar marketing role, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of marketing strategy, including digital marketing
  • Knowledge of web content management systems, social media analytics, and other marketing tools
  • Economic development experience

Occasional extended hours are a requirement of this position: pre-8:00 AM, post-5:00 PM and weekend responsibilities.
